Argentinean coach Alfio Basile resigns

Argentinean coach Alfio Basile resigned late last night only twenty four hours after his team lost 1-0 to Chile in a World Cup Qualifier.

The announcement came after he had spoken with Argentinean Football President Julio Grondona.

Grondona had attempted to make him change his mind but unsuccessfully. Basile had coached Argentina on a previous occasion from 1990 – 1994.
Currently there is no immediate replacement but leading contenders are likely to be include Argentina youth coach Sergio Batista, River Plate’s Diego Simeone and Miguel Angel Russo.
