Atletico Madrid are interested in bringing Chelsea’s Olivier Giroud to the Wanda Metropolitano, according to Sky Sports. However, Chelsea are only interested in getting the Frenchman off their books permanently, only half a season after they brought him in from Arsenal.
Giroud swapped the Emirates for Stamford Bridge in January hoping for more game-time and more success than he had with the Gunners, but again he found himself playing second fiddle, missing out on Champions League and winning the FA Cup – just like the previous season with Arsenal.
Sky claim that Atletio’s primary target is AC Milan striker Nikola Kalinić, but the Croat is still waiting on a decision from Rossoneri on whether he will be allowed to leave San Siro this summer. Meanwhile, Chelsea have already opened talks with Juventus over a potential deal for Gonzalo Higuain, and that move could open the door out for both Alvaro Morata and Giroud.
