Sport Bild is reporting that Bayer Leverkusen are hot on the trail of Hamburg SV winger Hakan Calhanoglu.
The 20-year-old has become one of the most sought-after players in European football following a stunning debut season at Imtech Arena.
Calhanoglu, nonetheless, snubbed interest from Arsenal, Atletico Madrid, Real Madrid and Juventus, among other sides, to sign a new deal in February, but that does not necessarily mean he will be staying with the Red Shorts beyond the current season.
With Hamburg now in real danger of getting relegated, the Turkey international could decide to leave his current employers after all.
According to Sport Bild, Bayer Leverkusen are keeping close tabs on the talented footballer and they have already established first contact.
Die Werkself have yet to secure Champions League qualification, but they remain 8/13 favourites for a top 4 finish despite sitting just one point ahead of Wolfsburg with three games to go.
