Besiktas bid for Michael Essien

Besiktas are ready to offer a lucrative deal to AC Milan midfielder Michael Essien, Rai Sport has learned.

The Turkish giants are determined to improve the club’s profile with a marquee signing, but they have been unsuccessful in their attempts to lure Ronaldinho to Istanbul.

However, Rai Sport understands that the Black Eagles are turning their attention to AC Milan star Michael Essien.

Besiktas are reportedly prepared to offer the Ghana international a three-year contract worth €4 million per campaign, but they will only make a move on the player if the Rossoneri agree to let him leave on a free transfer.

Essien has just over a year left on his deal at San Siro, but having failed to prove his worth in Italy, it is believed Milan would consider offloading him in the summer.

The Rossoneri play host to Sassuolo in the final Serie A fixture of the season and they are 2/7 favourites for the win.
