Striker Mauro Boselli has left Wigan for Mexican side Leon.

Boselli spent three years at the DW Stadium, having joined from Estudiantes, and will move for an undisclosed fee.

He scored five times in 23 appearances for Wigan during a spell where he also spent time on loan at his former club, as well as Italian sides Genoa and Palermo.

On what was a busy day for new Wigan boss Owen Coyle in the transfer market, the club also confirmed the signing of Stephen Crainey and a new contract for veteran goalkeeper Mike Pollitt.

Crainey lists Celtic, Leeds and Blackpool among his former clubs and becomes Coyle’s second signing for Wigan, after the Scottish boss clinched the signature of Chris McCann from Burnley.

“It’s a big challenge for me after six good years at Blackpool, but I felt the time was right to move on and look for a new challenge at this stage in my career,” Crainey told Wigan’s official website.

“I’ve got that here and I’m looking forward to getting started.”

Pollitt, who has been with the club since 2005, has agreed a new one-year contract.
