Arsenal F.C. have completed the signing of Brooklyn Beckham, David Beckham’s eldest son, on a short-term deal.
Brooklyn, 15, had been attracting interest from the likes of Chelsea and Manchester United, but the Gunners moved quickly to secure the highly-rated 15-year-old.
Brooklyn will join the Gunners’ Under-16 team and has a chance to earn a long-term deal if he continues to impress.
“Brooklyn is talented and he has stood out in all of the training sessions and games he has played.
“He has had other teams sniffing around and it was always going to be a case of when, not if, he was signed up by a big-name club.
“Next summer we may see him sign a big-money deal and with Arsenal.”
Brooklyn’s younger brothers Romeo, 12, and Cruz, 9, have already been electrifying Arsenal’s youth set-ups.
Pardew praises man-in-form Ayoze Perez
Newcastle United manager has hailed in-form starlet Ayoze Perez as potentially the club’s best signing since Yohan Cabaye after the Spain Under-21 international scored an audacious back heel against West Bromwich Albion.
Perez’s third league goal of the 2014/15 campaign helped the Magpies win their fifth consecutive match in all competitions at the Hawthorns on Sunday.
Thte 21-year-old, who joined Newcastle from Tenerife for a bargain fee of €2 million in the summer, was brought in by Alan Pardew despite having only played in Spain’s second and third divisions.
“I am getting really buoyed by the younger players in this squad.
“The senior professionals have been outstanding too, but the younger ones like Perez are giving us a real excitement that we have not had since Cabaye and Loic Remy were here.
“We scouted Ayoze all through his year at Tenerife, and he was being courted by some big clubs – in particular Porto and they don’t sign anyone unless he’s a good player.
“I think when it came to it that he just loved the way we were determined to bring him here. The chance to play in front of 54,000 Newcastle fans every week and for the third best supported club in the country is a big magnet for any young player.”
Pardew had concerns about the Perez’s lack of size, but ultimately decided to take a gamble on the 21-year-old.
“We thought his lack of physical size could be an issue, and that it might be a risk playing him up front on his own.
“But he worked so hard, and he has such good technique you were hoping that would see him through, and it has done.
“His goal was worthy of winning any game – he managed to add a bit more pace on the ball with his flick.”
Perez has bagged three goals in 12 appearances for Newcastle this term.
