Goias Esporte Clube put one foot in the next round of the Copa do Brasil after running out comfortable 3-0 winners over ABC on Wednesday.
Enderson Moreira’s men defeated Santo Andre 4-2 on aggregate in the second round to set up a meeting with ABC.
And Goias made light work of their Serie B opponents in Wednesday’s first leg at the Estadio Serra Dourada.
Amaral opened the scoring with seven minutes remaining in the first half, before Renan Oliveira doubled the hosts’ advantage two minutes after the break.
Walter added some gloss to the scoreline, with an 85th-minute penalty, leaving ABC with a mountain to climb in the second leg.
In Wednesday’s other third-round tie, Botafogo edged Figueirense 1-0, courtesy of Rafael Marques’ first-half strike.
After a scoreless opening to the match, Marques broke the deadlock on 29 minutes, much to the delight of the home faithful.
The 30-year-old’s goal, his seventh in 10 games, hands Botafogo the advantage heading into the return leg.
