Bulgarian club CSKA Sofia have completed the signing of young French midfielder Elliot Grandin on a free transfer. Grandin, 22, has signed an eighteen month contract with the Army Men and becomes new coach Ioan Andone’s first signing at the Bulgarian Army Stadium.

Grandin, a Caen youth product, joined Olympique Marseille in January 2008. However he struggled to adjust at Marseille and was loaned out to Grenoble a year later. After the completion of his loan, he had an unsuccessful trial with Stoke City and was consequently released by OM in September 2009.

Grandin was reportedly close to signing for Rapid Bucharest but chose CSKA after the Bulgarians came up with an improved offer that gave him 30% of any future sale proceeds.

Grandin has been capped three times by France at U-21 level.
