Lille missed the chance to go third in Ligue 1 after throwing away a three-goal lead to draw 3-3 with Sochaux on Friday.
Former Chelsea attacker Salomon Kalou bagged a brace and Marko Basa scored a goal of his own as the hosts raced out to a three-goal lead before the 50-minute mark at the Grand Stade Lille Metropole.
However, three goals in the final 10 minutes saw Sochaux earn a share of the spoils in remarkable fashion.
Defender Cedric Kante offered some hope to the visitors in the 79th minute before Vincent Nogueira sent shockwaves through the Lille camp with a free-kick six minutes from time.
And Nogueira completed the sensational comeback with another free-kick just three minutes later, much to the disgust of the Lille faithful, who booed their players off the pitch.
The result extended Lille’s unbeaten run to five games but Rudi Garcia’s men remain in fifth position with four games left to play, two points behind third-placed Lyon in their quest for Champions League football next season.
Meanwhile, Sochaux still sit in the relegation zone but are only one point adrift of safety.
