Man City to bid for Nico Gaitan; Dortmund set to sign Ciro Immobile

hot-transfer-newsMan City to bid for Nico Gaitan

Benfica star Nicolas Gaitan could be the subject of a summer bid from Manchester City, O Jogo has learned.

The Citizens sporting director Txiki Begiristain is looking to lure the Argentine forward to the Etihad and he has established initial contact with the player’s representatives.

Manchester City boss Manuel Pellegrini is not exactly spoilt for options in wing positions and he believes Nico Gaitan would be a very good addition to the squad.

The Argentine footballer has finally nailed down a regular starting berth at Estadio da Luz and he played a key role as the Eagles won Primeira Liga and Taca de Liga titles as well as qualified for Europa League and Taca de Portugal finals.

Gaitan has managed 7 goals and 10 assists in 41 competitive fixtures this season and he is widely tipped to leave the club for greener pastures in the summer.

The 26-year-old has a long list of admirers among Europe’s top clubs, but English Premier League does look the most likely destination.

Dortmund set to sign Ciro Immobile

German daily newspaper Bild is reporting that Borussia Dortmund are on the verge of signing Torino striker Ciro Immobile.

Despite securing the signature of Colombian forward Adrian Ramos, the Millionaires are looking to sign another quality attacker in an attempt to compensate for Robert Lewandowski’s departure.

And the latest reports are suggesting they have stepped up their efforts to sign long-term target Ciro Immobile.

The player himself is reportedly ready to join the Millionaires, with Dortmund now hoping to reach an agreement with Torino and Juventus, who co-own the striker.

FIFA agent Giacomo Petralito, working as an intermediary in the transfer, has confirmed that he has had a meeting with Dortmund officials, with Juventus general manager Beppe Marotta also present.

“I can confirm that I have met with Michael Zorc and Hans-Joachim Watzke,” Petralito confessed to Bild.

Ciro Immobile, 24, looks set to finish the season as Serie A’s top goalscorer, having notched 21 goals in 32 league outings this term.

Igor Denisov linked with Zenit return

Russian giants Zenit St Petersburg are set to make a move on former player Igor Denisov, according to Izvestia.

The Sky Blues are closing in on their fifth league title, but they are already thinking about the 2014/2015 season.

Zenit boss Andre Villas-Boas seems to have made signing Dynamo Moscow midfielder Igor Denisov his priority in the summer transfer window.

“I know that Denisov has won many trophies, was one of the leaders at Zenit and now he is one of the league’s best players,” the Portuguese coach told Izvestia.

“Of course, these kinds of players are attractive to all the big clubs. But, there are still two decisive matches, so it is too early to be speaking about transfers.”

Igor Denisov has managed 1 goal and 3 assists in 26 league matches for Dynamo this term and he could be tempted by the opportunity to re-sign for Zenit.

Boasting a one-point lead with two games to go, his former side is 4/11 to lift the Russian Premier League trophy.
