Arsenal midfielder Aaron Ramsey cannot wait for Jack Wilshere to return from injury so the pair can finally have a run of games together.
Serious injuries have prevented both players from spending significant time on the field with each other; Ramsey missed much of last campaign with a broken leg, while Wilshere been absent this season with an ankle injury.
Ramsey has recovered to feature in 26 matches this season, and told Arsenal’s website: “Jack is a great player for us; he had a really good season last year. It’s only a good thing to have competition for places.”
“It’s been quite weird because (initially) I was playing, so Jack went out on loan, then I got injured, so Jack played. We haven’t really had a chance to play together yet in the league. It will be good to have the competition.”
Despite the England international Wilshere’s absence and the departure of Cesc Fabregas to Barcelona, the Gunners midfield of Ramsey and Mikel Arteta has flourished.
Wales schemer Ramsey, 21, believes the partnership is improving with every match.
“It has definitely grown as the season has gone on,” he said. “We’ve got a better understanding of each other and that is starting to show with the assists and the chances created. It is only going to get stronger as the season goes on, too.”
