French newspaper Le Provence has learned that Tottenham attempted to recruit Marseille midfielder Florian Thauvin on transfer deadline day.

Spurs made a last minute move on the talented youngster by offering OM cash plus Etienne Capoue, but their proposal was rejected by the French giants.

Tottenham were willing to cash in on Etienne Capoue for €14 million, but they rejected a €10 million offer from Napoli on transfer deadline day.

Meanwhile, Marseille opted against selling Thauvin, who had only joined OM in the summer of 2013.

The 21-year-old has impressed at Stade Velodrome since he was snatched from Lille, having managed 6 goals and 3 assists in 18 Ligue 1 outings.

Les Dogues ended up making a healthy profit on the youngster without having him put on Lille jersey in an official game.

Besiktas sign Dany Nounkeu

Besiktas have announced on their official website that they have completed the signing of Cameroon defender Dany Nounkeu from Galatasaray.

The 27-year-old arrives on loan until the end of the season with an option to buy, the Black Eagles have revealed.

Galatasaray were looking to offload the Cameroon international in order to make way for new signings, but they surprised everyone by accepting an offer from rivals Besiktas.

Nounkeu arrived in Turkey in the summer of 2010, joining Gaziantepspor from Toulouse. He went on to make 46 league appearances for the club before moving on to Galatasaray in July 2012.

Despite impressing at the start of his career in Istanbul, the experienced defender subsequently lost his place in the starting line-up and only featured in 6 league fixtures this season.

Galatasaray are still hoping to revive their title bid in Turkish Super Lig, where they are 10/3 for the league trophy.

Otamendi nears Porto exit

Portuguese newspaper A Bola is reporting that Argentine defender Nicolas Otamendi could be leaving FC Porto in the coming weeks.

The highly rated centre-back was left out of the squad for Porto’s clash with Maritimo at the weekend as he was expected to complete a deadline day move to either Spain or England.

And while the player was probably disappointed by missing out on a transfer due to some unexpected circumstances, he could still be leaving in the winter transfer window.

Otamendi has admirers in Turkey and Russia, where the window is still open, although given tonight’s deadline in Turkey he is unlikely to be moving to the Super Lig.

On the other hand, Russian clubs have another three weeks to register new signings and with Zenit reportedly keen, a move to St Petersburg could be on the cards.

Nicolas Otamendi, 25, has spent last three and a half years at Estadio do Dragao, making a total of 77 league appearances for the club and scoring 6 goals.
