Liverpool could lose two players before the transfer window shuts next week. Argentine midfielder Javier Mascherano has allegedly told the club that he doesn’t wish to play for the club again and wants to leave.
Spanish giants Barcelona have already had a £16million bid rejected by the Reds but are expected to up their offer in the next few days.

The other player that could be leaving the club is Dirk Kuyt, who according to his agent is in talks with European champions Inter about a £15million-plus move, despite denials from Liverpool boss Roy Hodgson.
The striker-turned winger has scored some vital goals for the Reds in the last few seasons and although not the most technically gifted always works his socks off for the team.
The fact that these two players are even considering leaving Liverpool just goes to show what a bad state the club are currently in. Liverpool Football Club used to be one of the biggest clubs in the world and players would do anything to sign for them. Now it seems they can’t wait to get out of Anfield.
It really is a sad state of affairs that one of English football’s greatest clubs has fallen so far in such a short space of time. The club are now in major debt but surely it can’t be so bad that they need to sell two of their first team regulars?
Mascherano’s situation is that his family are currently unsettled on Merseyside and he now wants to leave the area. I don’t know why his situation wasn’t sorted earlier in the summer, as he has apparently wanted to leave the club for awhile.
However I can’t understand Kuyt’s reasons for leaving Anfield, except for the fact that he wants to join up with former-boss Rafa Benitez in Milan.
His agent Rob Jansen has told media: “It doesn’t mean he wants to leave at all costs, but when a club like Inter comes along its normal to look into the situation further.”
It sounds to me like Kuyt is keeping his options open with this statement just in case the move doesn’t materialise.

Liverpool are set to complete the signing of Fulham left-back Paul Konchesky, if today’s reports are to be believed. Now don’t get me wrong Paul Konchesky isn’t a bad player, he’s a decent player but I’m sure Liverpool fans would have expected better.
Liverpool are in need of a left-back but I just don’t think Konchesky is good enough to play for a team in the top four, which Liverpool are aspiring for at the end of this season. However this signing and the possible exits sum up Liverpool’s transfer activity in recent years.
Money
Liverpool are going to struggle until they get rid of their American owners. Reports of imminent takeovers and new owners have got the fans hopes up but that takeover will not be completed anytime soon.
Liverpool boss Roy Hodgson will be doing his job with one hand tied behind his back until the club have a new owner willing to back him. The team is in need of major strengthening to even get back into the top four, never mind challenging for the league title and they currently don’t have the money to sign top class players.
Long Way Back
Liverpool are currently in a period of transition but that doesn’t mean that their players should be looking to leave the club. However Liverpool has a long way back to the days when they were regarded as one of the biggest clubs in the world.
And that’s if they ever get back to those days, but even as a rival fan I do believe that they will get back to those glory days, it’s just a matter of how long it will take them to get back to those days of winning the league title. It could be awhile Liverpool fans, so please be patient!
