Real Betis midfielder Rafael van der Vaart could be moving to Brazil, according to daily newspaper O Globo.
The Dutch footballer has had a disappointing start to his career in Spain and he is no longer in the first team plans of coach Juan Merino.
As a result, van der Vaart is widely expected to leave los Verdiblancos at the earliest opportunity, with clubs from Brazil reportedly keen on his services.
O Globo has learned that Santos aim to sign the veteran footballer on loan, as they believe the Netherlands international’s arrival would further raise the club’s profile.
At the same time, Palmeiras could make a move as well, so it just remains to be seen whether the player himself would be interested in moving to South America.
Rafael van der Vaart, 33, joined Real Betis on a free transfer from Hamburger SV last summer, but has since managed just 7 La Liga appearances.
