Manchester United’s Sir Alex Ferguson and Nemanja Vidic have collected a double of English Premier League manager and player of the season.
United boss Ferguson, 69, received the league’s award for best manager after guiding United to their 19th English league championship, the 12th of his Old Trafford career.
The Scotsman, who now boasts nine Premier League manager of the season awards, could also lead United to a fourth European Cup if they defeat Barcelona in next Saturday’s Champions League final at Wembley Stadium.
Club captain Vidic received his second league award for best player after marshalling the United defence throughout the season.
Serbian Vidic, who appeared set for the Old Trafford exit after an injury-plagued campaign last season, excelled throughout 2010/11 despite often being without centre-back partner Rio Ferdinand.
The 29-year-old has started more league matches for United this season than any other player.
Awarded by the Premier League’s major sponsor, the awards were voted for by fans, the media and football’s governing bodies.
