Celta Vigo striker Iago Aspas has moved to reveal that he was the subject of interest from Paris Saint-Germain in the January transfer window.
The Saints were looking to recruit a player who would act as back up to Edinson Cavani when it became clear that Jese Rodriguez would be leaving, and the former Liverpool striker was one of the players on their hit-list.
However, even though he admits to have been contacted by PSG and other clubs, Aspas has made it clear that he did not have intention to leave his current employers.
“PSG have been looking at me, other teams as well, but I am very happy here,” the 29-year-old told Radio Marca.
“There are always interested clubs, but I will stay here for as long as Vigo will (have me).”
Aspas currently has a deal until June 2020 at Balaidos, but he is set to be offered a new and improved deal as a reward for his loyalty.
The striker admits that he hopes the Sky Blues will make an effort to meet his wage demands, and he has clearly proved his worth to the club by scoring 11 goals in 19 La Liga outings this term.
