Italian giants Lazio are set to launch a fresh assault on Benfica defender Jardel, Il Corriere dello Sport has suggested.
The Biancocelesti have chosen the Brazilian stopper as a perfect defence partner for Stefan de Vrij and they are currently in talks with his employers.
Lazio have now offered €8 million for the experienced footballer, which would normally be considered a very good proposal, but the problem is that the Eagles would only pocket 40% of any transfer fee.
Namely, Traffic investment company owns half of the player’s economic rights, whereas his former club Olhanense is due 10% from next sale.
This is why Benfica will attempt to persuade Lazio to raise their offer to €10 million, and it remains to be seen whether the two parties will be able to reach an agreement.
Jardel has developed into a key member of the squad at Estadio da Luz, but he could be tempted by the opportunity to join one of Italy’s top clubs.
