Catalan daily newspaper Sport understands that Ligue 1 leaders Monaco have emerged as favourites to land Barcelona youngster Jordi Mboula.
The 18-year-old is widely regarded as one of the club’s hottest prospects, and he is already being heavily linked with a move away from Camp Nou.
Namely, Mboula has a €3 million release clause in his current deal and there are quite a few sides ready to match the asking price.
But, even though Borussia Dortmund and Benfica are among clubs to have shown interest in the highly rated winger, it is Monaco who appear to be leading the chase at the moment.
Namely, it has now been revealed that Mboula’s agents met with Monaco sporting director Antonio Cordon and vice-chairman Vadim Vasilyev last month.
The Principality club presented them a very interesting offer that includes giving the youngster a chance to shine at senior level.
Monaco are also prepared to find an agreement with Barcelona rather than matching the €3 million release clause and they seem to stand a good chance of closing the deal.
