10 Best Soccer Goals EverEverybody likes a game that has plenty of goals in it, and they like it even more when there are spectacular goals scored. Here we take a look at ten of the best goals scored in world soccer.

10.) Andres Vasquez (IFK Goteborg vs Orebro SK)

Young Peruvian midfielder Andres Vasquez does know how to make a splash on the big stage. As a nineteen year old, Vasquez’s first goal for Goteborg was an unbelievable rabona kick from outside the penalty area. There will probably never be a better debut goal scored by a Goteborg player, or for that matter, a player in any football league across the world.

9.) Esteban Cambiasso (Argentina vs Serbia & Montenegro)

We tend to focus too much on an individual’s piece of magic when it comes to goals, and often forget that the whole team is involved in the build up to it. Here is a brilliant piece of teamwork from the Argentine national team against Serbia & Montenegro at the 2006 World Cup- twenty six patiently stitched passes that result in a goal for midfielder Esteban Cambiasso.

8.) Zlatan Ibrahimovic (Ajax Amsterdam vs NAC Breda)

Superb display of skill from Swedish striker Zlatan Ibrahimovic as he deceives virtually the entire NAC defence before producing a fine finish.

7.) Tony Yeboah (Leeds United vs Wimbledon)

Yeboah takes a couple of touches before absolutely smashing this ball past the Wimbledon keeper. One of the Ghanaian forward’s best ever strikes, and also the winner of the Goal of the Season award in the 1995/96 season.

6.) Marco van Basten (Netherlands vs USSR- Euro 1988)

A strong contender for “Volleyed Goal of the Century”- Dutch striker Marco Van Basten strikes this powerful volley from an impossible looking angle in the Euro 1988 final against the erstwhile Soviet Union.

5.) George Weah (AC Milan vs Verona)

African great Weah embarks on a brilliant solo run after collecting a Verona corner in his own box and gallops towards the opposition goal. He nearly loses the ball around the half way mark as Verona’s defenders surround him, but manages to get it forward and eventually gets into the opposition box before firing the ball in.

4.) Lionel Messi (Barcelona vs Getafe)

The world’s best player takes fourth position with this goal that single handedly left Getafe’s players and coach stunned. He ran a little over 200 feet and beat six players (including Getafe’s keeper) before slotting this one in.

3.) Pele (Brazil vs Sweden)

Pele’s goal in the 1958 World Cup final against Sweden gets third place in this list. Notice how at the tender age of seventeen, Pele shows enough composure to chest the ball, loft it over the incoming defender and then position himself to volley the ball past Swedish goalie Kalle Svensson.

2.) Roberto Carlos (Brazil vs France)

This 35 metre stunner from Brazilian wingback Roberto Carlos, widely acknowledged as one of the best free kicks of all time, made several onlookers scratch their head in wonder. Carlos’ free kick seems to be curving away from goal, but cuts back in at the last moment and leaves Les Bleus keeper Fabian Barthez speechless.

1.) Diego Maradona (Argentina vs England)

El Diego takes top spot in this list with his “Goal of the Century” scored against England in the 1986 World Cup. He takes the ball from Hector Enrique in his own half, skips past five opposition players (Steve Hodge, Peter Beardsley, Peter Reid, Terry Butcher and Terry Fenwick) and rounds English keeper Peter Shilton before finishing the move. This goal came minutes after the infamous “Hand of God”.

Maradona doesn’t deserve best ever goal. fair enough, it takes a good bit of speed and control to go that far past so many defenders (plus the keeper), but keep in mind this was in the heat and oxygen sapping altitude of the Mexican stadiums, against an English team not used to either one of those climate issues. I could’ve done it myself in my sleep.
Pele’s goal against Sweden is so much better, as he used brilliant trapping skills to fool that defender, then knock it in on the volley. the ball never touched the ground until after it hit the back of the net.
In fact, I’d say the winning goal from Scotland’s striker back in their 3-2 win over Holland is better than Maradona’s.

Hey, You are wrong guys, My uncle scored the most beautiful goal of all times. This was in “el potrero” of Cañete, Perú, yesterday. It was big news in the main newspaper of my hometown: EL Sol de Cañete. He dribbled 27 1/2 in total before he scored: 21 players, plus the ref, 2 linesmen, his mother in law, his wife, his mistress and an EMO. That was unbelievable.

People are so stupid, anything can be a great goal, this is pure subjective. If you don’t like this ranking, just make your own ranking and stop breaking the balls…

I think that the messi´s and maradona´s goals are similar, however messi used two legs, maradona only one, thats the reason why the messi´s goal should be the best.
