10th July: Saturday’s Football Accumulator – 5/1

While Sunday’s European Championship final between England and Italy might steal most of the headlines this weekend, we still have a handful of eye-catching meetings from across the footballing world. On that note, for those of you looking to stick on a Sunday acca, we have found a handful of helpful tips that are worth keeping an eye out for.

Saturday 10th July

BST 19:30 Longford Town vs Drogheda United

For our opening Tip of the Day, we turn our attention to the Irish Premier Division and a Drogheda side who will be looking to build off of last week’s impressive display. Despite a sluggish end to June, Saturday’s guests were last seen picking up a thumping 3-1 win against the Finn Harps on home soil. Managing to find a way to build off of their rugged point against defending champions Shamrock Rovers, some in Tim Clancy’s squad might still have their sights set on making a shock late charge for the European spots. Looking to make it back-to-back top-flight victories for the first time since May, Drogheda should be smelling a golden chance on the road this weekend. Holding what is a stellar record against Saturday’s opponents, The Super Drogs last picked up a 4-1 victory when they faced off against Longford and they have also bagged a quartet of goals in back-to-back matchups against the Premier Division strugglers. In the midst of what has become a real Irish nightmare, Daire Doyle’s side are freefalling their way to an immediate First Division return. Already sat 11 points adrift of safety, Longford have remarkably failed to win any of their last 18 contests on the bounce, a run that stems all the way back to March 20th.

Tip: Drogheda United win @ 5/6

20:30 Palmeiras vs Santos

Starting with Saturday’s hosts, last seen putting on what was another professional display earlier in the week, Palmeiras find themselves enjoying a hugely impressive purple patch. Landing a deserved 2-0 victory against Grêmio on home soil, Verdão have stormed their way back to the top of the Serie A table and the mood in their camp should be at a real high. Showing a host of improvements since opening the 2021 campaign, The Big Green have also done a stellar job of bouncing back from that defeat against fellow title contenders RB Bragantino last month. Continuing to impress over the past three weeks, Head Coach Abel Ferreira finds his squad enjoying a four-match winning run and they have also collected 18 points from their last seven Serie A matchups. Gaining a reputation for their free-scoring performances in the final third, it should also be noted that Palmeiras have won each of their last three home fixtures on the spin. On the flip side, while Santos might have managed to land themselves a welcomed victory earlier in the week, the former Brazilian giants know they face a stern step up in class on Saturday night. Already suffering back-to-back defeats against this weekend’s hosts so far this year, The White and Blacks have mustered just a single point from their last three contests on the road.

Tip: Palmeiras win @ 3/4

21:30 Athletico Paranaense vs RB Bragantino

After watching Palmeiras leapfrog them to top spot in the Serie A standings earlier in the week, there is no doubt that Bragantino will be desperate to make an immediate return to winning ways on Saturday night. However, despite having to settle for a 1-1 draw at home against Cuiabá, The Red Bulls have gained a string of plaudits since opening the 2021 campaign and many have tipped them as the leading title contender. Still the only side in Brazil’s top-flight who are yet to taste defeat from any of their opening 10 contests, they have also continued to impress with some dominant displays on the road. Last seen away from the Estádio Nabi Abi Chedid landing a 2-1 victory against São Paulo earlier in the month, Bragantino have won all five of their Serie A away fixtures so far this season. On the flip side, after being left stunned to have been hit with a 2-1 defeat against Santos in midweek, Athletico Paranaense find themselves in an almost identical position to this weekend’s opponents. Still firmly battling it out at the top of the table and sat just three points adrift of Bragantino and top spot, it should be noted that Furacão have gained a reputation for their lively outcomes. With each of their last six contests finishing with both teams finding the net, we’re backing a similar result here.

Tip: Both teams to score @ 10/11

Our Saturday Accumulator:

Longford Town vs Drogheda United – Drogheda United win @ 5/6

Palmeiras vs Santos – Palmeiras win @ 3/4

Athletico Paranaense vs RB Bragantino – Both teams to score @ 10/11
