The Daily Mail is today reporting that Arsenal are still hopeful of landing Barcelona striker David Villa in this January transfer window.
It was thought that the Gunners had given up hope on signing Spain’s all-time leading scorer, but he was left out of Barca’s Copa Del Rey fixture against Malaga last time out, which was a match that he was expected to start in.
As always with this January window, it is going to take a lot amount of money for the La Liga giants to even consider letting their striker go.
Although he seems to have fallen down the pecking order this campaign, the Spanish side know just how good Villa can be on his day and are not in any position where they need to sell.
Arsenal will try and tempt the player away by guaranteeing his first-team football and you would say that Villa could do great things in North London.
Arsene Wenger clearly rates the Spaniard and might even break the bank in order to secure his services.
Much depends on what the player himself wants to do. If he wants to leave Barcelona, then the Catalan club might find it tough to stand in his way.
