With a hectic Tuesday night of action from across England’s footballing tiers, we here at Soccer News have found a handful of helpful tips that can boost your midweek acca:
Tuesday 11th February
BST 19:45 Barnsley vs Birmingham City
Starting with Tuesday’s guests, putting in another eye-catching display in their thumping 3-1 win away at Bristol City on Friday night, Birmingham suddenly find themselves enjoying their brightest run of the season so far. Now with their sights firmly set on finding a route into the top half of the Championship standings, the Blues have won their last three consecutive matches across all competitions and also have an FA Cup showdown against Leicester on the horizon. In fact, transforming into one of the second-tiers in-form outfits, Pep Clotet’s men are unbeaten in their last eight appearances on he bounce, a run that stems back to New Year’s Day. Along with enjoying a five-match unbeaten run away from St. Andrew’s, one man to keep an eye out for in midweek could be January arrival, Scott Hogan. Once again finding the net against Bristol City last weekend, the Villa loanee has bagged back-to-back strikes since making his loan switch across the Midlands. Given Barnsley’s continued issues since entering 2020, there is no doubt that Hogan and co should be confident of extending their purple patch on Tuesday. Despite managing to play out a 1-1 draw against Sheffield Wednesday last time out, the Reds have lost their other four previous on the bounce, a run highlighted by a 4-2 hammering against League One’s Portsmouth last month. With Birmingham picking up a 2-0 win when the two sides faced off earlier in the season, the Blues should see their trip to Oakwell as a golden opportunity to make another statement.
Tip: Birmingham City win @ 7/4
19:45 Peterborough United vs Southend United
Putting in what was a season-best display and picking up an empathic 4-0 win over Oxford on Saturday, Peterborough are enjoying what has been a scintillating purple patch, particularly in the final third. Now sat just a single point adrift of the automatic positions and with their sights set on securing a Championship return this year, fans around the Weston Homes Stadium find their side in the midst of a five-match winning run in England’s third-tier. Bagging a quartet of strikes in back-to-back League One appearances, one man to keep an eye out for in midweek will certainly be leading marksman and attacking MVP, Ivan Toney. Scoring another brace against Oxford over the weekend, the 23-year-old picked up the League One Player of the Month award for January and has already collected 23 strikes since opening the 2019/2020 campaign. Linked with a potential Premier League move come the summer, there is no doubt that Toney should be relishing Southend’s arrival on Tuesday. Despite shocking many by grabbing three points against Lincoln earlier in the month, the Essex outfit came crashing back down to earth on Saturday. Hit with a 2-1 defeat against Blackpool over the weekend, Sol Campbell’s men still sit 12 points adrift of safety and in pole position to lose their League One status this year. Winning just one of their last 13 matches away from Roots Hall, Tuesday could be yet another tough test for the Blues. It should also be noted that when the two sides faced off back in August, Peterborough picked up a 2-0 win.
Tip: Ivan Toney to score anytime and Peterborough to score over 1.5 goals @ 5/6
19:45 Solihull Moors vs Barnet
Starting with Tuesday’s guests, putting in yet another dominant performance by picking up a thumping 3-0 win over title hopefuls Barrow in the FA Trophy over the weekend, few would have expected what is been a stellar resurge for Barnet. Also picking up a 2-1 win over Hartlepool in their last National League appearance, the Oranges find themselves in the midst of a four-match winning run across all competitions. With the mood around the Hive the highest it has been in recent memory, Darren Currie’s men find themselves enjoying a 13-match unbeaten run that stems back to the 23rd of November. Now sat just four points adrift of the top-seven and still dreaming of clinching a play-off finish this year, there is no doubt that Currie will be most impressed by his side’s recent showings on the road. Tuesday’s guests are unbeaten in their last four National League matchups on the bounce, a run that also saw them clinch another shock 2-1 victory over Barrow last month. While the mood in Barnet’s camp continues to skyrocket, Solihull Moors are in the midst of an extended rut. Failing to win any of their last seven matches across all formats, a run that stems back to New Year’s Day, it should also be noted that Tim Flowers’ side have won just one of their last seven matches in the West Midlands.
Tip: Barnet double chance @ 8/13
