11th March: Saturday’s Football Accumulator – 9/1

With the race for the playoff final getting underway this weekend, we here at Soccer News have found a handful of helpful tips from across Europe that can boost your Saturday acca:

Saturday 11th May

BST 12:30 Aston Villa vs West Brom

While Aston Villa may have suffered a 2-1 loss at home to eventual Championship winners Norwich last weekend, few in the Midlands would have expected the Villans’ stellar end to the year. Securing a second consecutive campaign in the playoffs with time to spare, former Brentford boss Dean Smith has seen his side win 10 of their last 12 appearances and have tasted defeat just once since the middle of February. A huge part of Villa’s recent revival has come thanks to their continued showings on home soil. Aside from their close-fought defeat to the Canneries last weekend, Saturday’s hosts had won their previous five Championship matches at Villa Park and one man to watch will be the returning Tammy Abraham. Finding the net in back-to-back outings prior to picking up a minor knock, the Chelsea loanee has bagged 25 goals this season and sits second in the overall goalscoring charts. While Villa might be enjoying an eye-catching run in front of their own fans, West Brom have really started to stall away from the Hawthorns. Suffering a 3-1 loss away at Derby in their last league appearance, Villa’s Midland rivals have failed to win any of their last four matches on the road, losing three of those contests. Also recording just one away victory since the middle of February, we’re backing a resurgent Villa to come away with the victory on Saturday.

Tip: Aston Villa win @ 10/11

14:00 Atalanta vs Genoa

Putting in yet another impressive display in their 3-1 win away at Lazio last weekend, Atalanta now find themselves in pole position to secure a top-four finish in Serie A. Enjoying a stellar end to the year and now winning their last four appearances on the bounce, Gian Piero Gasperini’s side are unbeaten in their last 12 outings, a run that stems all the way back to the 23rd of February. With the chance to leapfrog Inter Milan to third spot, a huge part of Atalanta’s form this season has come down to their stellar displays in the final third. Bagging 71 Serie A goals this year, three more than defending champions Juventus, no side in Italy’s top-tier holds a better-attacking record than Saturday’s hosts. One man who has really spearhead Atalanta’s Champions League push has been leading goalscorer, Duvan Zapata. Finding the net against Lazio last weekend, the 28-year-old has recorded 25 goals across all competitions and now has five in his last six Serie A appearances. Given Genoa’s very worrying end to the year, Zapata should be confident of extending his tally on Saturday. Holding just a four-point buffer over the drop zone and still firmly at the heart of a relegation battle, Cesare Prandelli’s side have failed to win any of their last seven outings and have failed to record a single victory away from Genova since the end of January, a seven-match winless run.

Tip: Duvan Zapata to score anytime @ 8/11

17:15 Derby vs Leeds

While Derby may have left it until the last round of Championship fixtures, Frank Lampard’s side managed to secure their spot in the playoffs with a thumping 3-1 win over West Brom last weekend. Really epitomizing what has become a stellar end to the year for Saturday’s hosts, the former England midfielder has seen his side enjoy a six-match unbeaten run, winning four of those contests. Heading into the playoffs with some real momentum, a huge part of the Rams’ late top-six push has come down to their continued performances at Pride Park. Including their victory over the Baggies last time out, Derby have won their last four matches on home soil and have really started to shine in the final third. Scoring a staggering 15 goals on their winning run at Pride Park, one man to watch on Saturday will be leading goalscorer, Harry Wilson. The Liverpool loanee has bagged 16 goals across all competitions and has recorded three goals in his last two matches on home soil. While Derby might be enjoying a very eye-catching end to the year, the same cannot be said about a struggling Leeds side. Coming off the back of another worrying display in their 3-2 defeat away at rock-bottom Ipswich last weekend, Saturday’s visitors have now failed to win any of their last four matchups of the season, losing three of those contests. Even more worrying for Marcelo Bielsa, his side have also now lost three of their last four matches away from Elland Road.

Tip: Derby win @ 11/5
