12th July: Sunday’s Football Accumulator – 8/1

With the footballing schedule really starting to pile up, Sunday afternoon offers us a string of eye-catching meetings from across Europe. On that note, for those of you looking to stick on a weekend acca, we have found you a few helpful tips that are worth keeping an eye out for this weekend.

Sunday 12th July

BST 13:30 Swansea City vs Leeds United

Starting with Sunday’s guests, putting in what was another rampant display on Thursday and landing a thumping 5-0 romp against Stoke at Elland Road, the mood in Leeds’ camp should be on the rise. Still maintaining their spot at the top of the Championship and within touching distance of securing a long-overdue Premier League return this summer, Marcelo Bielsa’s side have landed back-to-back wins and have collected 26 points over their last 10 second-tier appearances. Opening the weekend with a five-point buffer from slipping out of the automatic spots, the former Napoli boss will be hugely excited by his side’s stunning recent showings in the final third. Along with putting five past the Potters earlier in the week, the Whites have bagged 12 goals over their last four Championship contests, a run highlighted by a stunning 3-0 romp against top-two outsiders Fulham last month. With Patrick Bamford bagging his fourth post-lockdown strike on Thursday, we could be in for an action-packed afternoon in South Wales this weekend. Picking up their own 3-1 romp against Birmingham in midweek, Swansea have a play-off finish at the top of their agenda. Sat just one-point adrift of breaking into the top-six, Sunday’s hosts have collected back-to-back wins and have lost just one of their last six Championship appearances. Scoring five goals in their back-to-back victories, the two sides have a habit of producing lively contests in their previous meetings. With five of the last six contests between Leeds and Swansea seeing over 2.5 goals, we’re baking a similar outcome this weekend.

Tip: Over 2.5 goals @ 10/11

16:30 Tottenham vs Arsenal

While more VAR controversy may have left Arsenal frustrated to have only settled for a late point against Leicester in midweek, the Gunners appear to have turned a real corner of late. With Mikel Arteta making it clear that they still have a European finish at the top of their agenda, Sunday’s guests are in the midst of a five-match unbeaten run across all competitions, winning four of those contests. Managing to book their spot in the semi-final of this year’s FA Cup and a showdown with Manchester City, Pep Guardiola’s former right-hand man will be most impressed by his side’s recent displays on the road. Including shocking many across the Premier League with a glittering 2-0 win away at top-four outsiders Wolves in their last appearance away from the Emirates, Arsenal have won each of their last three away fixtures on the bounce, their best away run of the season so far. Glad to see leading marksman Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang once again find the net earlier in the week and now bag three goals in as many top-flight outings, Arteta’s side will travel across North London confident of making another statement. While Spurs may have managed to grab their own point away at relegation scrappers Bournemouth in midweek, Jose Mourinho’s side are still drastically struggling to find their feet either side of the enforced break. Lucky to have left the Vitality with something to show on Thursday, the Lilywhites have managed to now win just two of their last 11 matchups across all competitions.

Tip: Arsenal win @ 17/10

20:45 Napoli vs AC Milan

Starting with Sunday’s hosts, picking up another 2-1 win away at Genoa in midweek, Napoli have bounced back from their defeat against a high-flying Atalanta and have continued to impress since returning from the enforced break. Shocking many and beating Juventus to lift the Coppa Italia title last month, the Blues have won five of their last six matches across all competitions and appear to have finally found their feet under former AC boss Gennaro Gattuso. Sat in pole position to secure another European finish this season, Napoli also have a growing reputation for their recent displays on home soil. Including picking up a 2-1 win against Roma last weekend, Gli Azzurri have won their last three straight Serie A home matchups and it is also worth noting that their last four home fixtures on the bounce have seen over 2.5 goals by the final whistle. On the flip side, putting in what was a stunning second-half display at the San Siro in midweek, Milan will undoubtedly be boosted by their famous victory on Tuesday night. Putting four goals past Juventus in the space of just 18 minutes earlier in the week, Sunday’s guests picked up a 4-2 win on home soil and now find themselves in the midst of a glittering five-match Serie A unbeaten run, collecting 13 points on their recent purple patch. Really starting to shine in the final third, the former Italian giants have now bagged 15 goals on their unbeaten run, a run highlighted by a 3-0 romp against Lazio on the road last weekend. In a contest that should see a string of chances at both ends of the pitch, we’re backing another lively contest in Naples this weekend.
