12th September: Saturday’s British Accumulator – 7/1

With the Premier League’s return taking center stage this weekend, Saturday offers us a string of noteworthy meetings from across Britain. On that note, for those of you looking to open the weekend with an acca, we have searched far and wide to find you a handful of helpful tips that are worth keeping an eye out for on Saturday.

Saturday 12th September

BST 12:15 Fulham vs Arsenal

Starting with Saturday’s guests, while Arsenal might have been left frustrated to have only landed an eighth-place finish last season, the Gunners have really enjoyed an eye-catching summer. With Head Coach Mikel Arteta making it clear that a top-four return is at the top of their agenda, the Gunners have already lifted both the Community Shield and the FA Cup titles at Wembley over the past five weeks. Already picking up victories over the likes of Liverpool, Manchester City, Chelsea and Wolves since making a return from football’s enforced break, Pep Guardiola’s former right-hand man also has one attacking talisman who finds himself still in the midst of a summer purple patch. Bagging a brace against Chelsea in the FA Cup final last month, skipper Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang has scored five goals in his last three matchups for the Gunners, including scoring twice against Watford on the final weekend. Also landing himself three strikes the last time Fulham graced the Premier League two years ago, Aubameyang and Arsenal should be confident of making a statement in West London. Managing to squeeze in just a single pre-season contest this summer and playing out a 2-2 draw against League One MK Dons, Scott Parker’s side should be in for a tricky season-opener this weekend. Losing each of their last five matchups against Arteta’s men, Fulham were also hit with a 5-1 hammering the last time they welcomed Arsenal to Craven Cottage.

Tip: Arsenal win & Arsenal to score over 1.5 goals @ 20/23

17:00 St. Patrick’s Athletic vs Sligo Rovers

Turning our attention to the Irish Premier Division this weekend, there is no doubt that a high-flying Sligo Rovers will be looking to upset the odds and continue on what has been a stunning purple patch. Putting in yet another eye-catching display last weekend and picking up what was a deserved 3-1 victory against Finn Harps on home soil, Liam Buckley’s side have only continued skyrocketing up the table. Suddenly sat in the European positions and the mood around the Showgrounds at a red-hot high, Saturday’s guests have won each of their last four matchups on the bounce and have really started to shine in the final third. Along with booking their spot in the quarter-finals of this year’s FAI Cup thanks to another 3-1 victory against First Division outfit UCD last month, the Red and Whites have now scored over 2.5 goals in each of their last three appearances on the bounce. Opening the weekend sat one-point clear of defending champions Dundalk, Sligo are in the midst of their most fruitful spell since April 2014. On the flip side, while the guests might find the mood in their camp at a real high, the same cannot be said for a struggling St. Patrick’s. Along with crashing out of the FAI Cup thanks to a shock 1-0 loss against rock-bottom Finn Harps last month, they also put in a season-worst display last weekend as they were hit with a thumping 3-0 defeat at the hands of Waterford.

Tip: St. Patrick’s Athletic clean sheet – no @ 4/6

17:30 Liverpool vs Leeds

Starting with Saturday’s hosts, having to come from two goals down against League One Blackpool in their final pre-season contest at Anfield last weekend, Jurgen Klopp’s superstars know that they avoided what could be have been the most embarrassing of banana skins. While the Reds might have stormed towards their first Premier League crown thanks to an 18-point buffer earlier in the summer, the former Borussia Dortmund boss has seen his side show some worrying issues at the back during their post-lockdown run. Also having to once again come from two goals down to snatch a draw off of Red Bull Salzburg in another sluggish pre-season display, it should also be noted that the defending champions failed to record a single clean sheet in any of their final five Premier League appearances. Up against a Leeds side who will be looking to upset the odds when they mark their top-flight return this weekend, Liverpool’s leaky defence could have a few questions to answer. Boosted by the news that Head Coach Marcelo Bielsa has put pen to paper on a new deal at Elland Road, the Whites signed off their Championship campaign with a 4-0 romp against Charlton and have a real reputation for their displays in front of goal. While we do expect Liverpool to open the New Year with three points, don’t be surprised to see Leeds with a consolation strike to their name at Anfield this weekend.

Tip: Liverpool win & Both teams to score @ 13/8
