With a hectic Saturday of action from across England’s footballing tiers, we here at Soccer News have found a handful of helpful tips that can boost your weekend acca:
Saturday 13th April
BST 15:00 Burnley vs Cardiff
Starting with Saturday’s hosts, while many around Turf Moor were concerned for Burnley’s Premier League status last month, the Clarets have begun to show some real improvements at a vital time. Putting in another impressive display in their 3-1 win away at Bournemouth last weekend, Sean Dyche’s side now hold an eight-point buffer over the drop zone. Also picking up a 2-0 win over European hopefuls Wolves in their last appearance in Lancashire, Burnley have arguably saved ther best performances for home soil this season. Winning five of their last seven at Turf Moor and losing just two of their home matches in 2019, one man to watch on Saturday will be the inform Ashley Barnes. Finding the net at the Vitality last weekend, the 29-year-old has six in his last 10 top-flight outings and also has three in his last five in Lancashire. While Burnley might be enjoying a push away from the bottom three, the same cannot be said for Cardiff. Suffering a 2-0 loss away at Manchester City last time out and now losing five of their last six, Neil Warnock’s side find themselves sat five points adrift of safety. With Burnley picking up a 2-1 loss when the two sides met in South Wales back in September, we’re backing a similar result on Saturday afternoon.
Tip: Home win @ 10/11
15:00 QPR vs Swansea
Although any chance of a late playoff push appears to be off the cards for Swansea, Graham Potter’s side are enjoying a bright end to the campaign. Coming off the back of another impressive display in their 3-1 win at home to Stoke in midweek, the Whites are enjoying a three-match winning run and have picked up some eye-catching results on that run. Also picking up victories over Middlesbrough and Brentford, fans in South Wales will be growing more impressed by their recent success in the final third. Looking to climb into the top half of the Championship table, the Swans have scored three goals in each of their previous three victories. One man who has continued to shine for Saturday’s visitors is leading goalscorer Oliver McBurnie. Finding the net against Stoke last time out, the Scotland international has picked up 19 goals this season and has now registered nine Championship strikes in his last 11 outings. Given QPR’s continued struggles at the back end of the campaign, the 22-year-old should be confident of extending his recent tally. With the now managerless Hoops coming off the back of a 0-0 draw with relegation contenders Millwall in midweek, Saturday’s hosts have failed to win any of their last seven appearances. More worrying for fans in West London, QPR are coming off the back of a pair of home defeats at Bolton and Rotherham, two teams currently sat in the relegation zone.
Tip: Oliver McBurnie to score anytime @ 11/8
15:00 Morecambe vs Grimsby
While Morecambe would have been disappointed to have only picked up a point against Macclesfield last weekend, Saturday’s hosts have enjoyed quite the resurge at the back end of the season. Now holding a nine-point buffer over the drop zone and all but securing another season of League Two football, Jim Bentley’s side have lost just one of their last six and a huge part of their push for safety has come thanks to their form at the Globe Arena. Grabbing a 1-0 win over Crawley in their last appearance in Lancashire, Morecambe have also taken victories off MK Dons and Forrest Green, two sides who have their sights set on promotion. With the chance to extend their winning run at home to four matches, the mood in Bentley’s camp appears to be at a season-high. While the Shrimps might be enjoying a purple patch at the back end of the season, Grimsby have drastically started to struggle. Freefalling down the League Two table and coming off the back of consecutive 2-0 defeats against Oldham and Stevenage, Saturday’s visitors have faield to win any of their last eight outings. Looking for their first win since the middle of February, it has been Grimsby’s ongoing issues in the final third most worrying Michael Jolley. His side have now failed to score in any of their last four matches and have also conceded eight goals on their three-match losing run away from Blundell Park. With Morecambe picking up a 2-1 win when the two sides met back in September, we’re backing a similar result on the weekend.
