Tuesday nights highlight match sees Wolves looking to extend their run of victories in the premier league to three games, whilst Manchester United will look to make ground on Chelsea who dropped two valuable points against Everton on the weekend.
Manchester United, Many people’s favourites for the title this year and reigning champions are suffering with somewhat of an injury crisis at the moment. With Vidic only just back into the team and several other defenders out injured the Red Devils are perhaps looking more vulnerable than ever, but everything is relative, and they will still expect those standing in to do the business and keep up their pursuit of Chelsea. Also, with a wealth of talented midfielders in their squad, United have defensive players such as Michael Carrick and Darren Fletcher who can drop back into defence to provide cover. Alex Ferguson will have confidence in his players and will believe that they can bounce back from their surprise loss at home to Aston Villa this Saturday, and only the bravest would bet against United getting back to winning ways.
Wolves have enjoyed a remarkable couple of games, having recorded their first back to back victories in the top flight for 26 years, firstly beating Bolton Wanderers 2-1 at home, and following that a remarkable victory away to Spurs, winning 1-0. Wolves Boss Mick McCarthy will feel that if there was any time for his players to face United away, it would be now, with United struggling defensively, and the Wolves team in form and with confidence running high. Wolves have few injury worries, and will relish one of their biggest games of the season.
This is not the most straight forward match to pick with a few levellers, but despite Manchester United’s injury problems and Wolves’ resurgent form, I still feel that United will have too much for a Wolves team just above the Relegation Zone
Verdict: Home win Manchester United(1)
