19th September: Sunday’s Football Accumulator – 8/1

With a host of noteworthy meetings from across the footballing globe throughout this weekend, Sunday promises to be another stacked schedule. So, for those of you looking to stick on a Sunday acca, we have found a handful of helpful tips that are worth keeping an eye out for.

Sunday September 19th

BST 16:30 Tottenham vs Chelsea

Starting with Sunday’s guests, eventually grabbing a 1-0 win against Zenit when opening the defence of their Champions League crown in midweek, Chelsea have continued to gain a host of admirers. With many believing that Thomas Tuchel’s stacked squad are one of the main title contenders this season, the Blues have enjoyed a continued purple patch since bringing in the former PSG boss. Marking their return from September’s international break with a 3-0 win against Aston Villa at Stamford Bridge, the West London outfit have mustered 10 points from their opening four Premier League matchups. Smelling the chance to lay down another marker when they travel across the capital this weekend, Tuchel also has one new attacking talisman enjoying his own free-scoring run. Making a blockbuster return to the defending European champions over the summer, Romelu Lukaku has really hit the ground running. Continuing to break international records while away with Belgium earlier in the month, the now-former Inter Milan ace also has three Premier League goals in as many appearances. Up against a Spurs side who are still showing a host of issues, despite their bright start, Lukaku and co should be confident of keeping up their momentum. While Tottenham might have managed to eventually snatch a 2-2 draw away at French side Rennes on Conference League duties in midweek, Spurs are enduring a recent wobble. Marking their return from the international break with a woeful 3-0 drumming against Crystal Palace, the Lilywhites certainly face a stern test here. Suffering a 1-0 loss the last time Chelsea visited North London, we’re backing a similar away win here.

Tip: Chelsea win & under four goals @ 5/4

17:00 Verona vs Roma

Making the decision to appoint new Head Coach Jose Mourinho over the summer, few would have expected what has been a stunning start to the 2021/22 campaign for Roma. Immediately finding their feet under the former Manchester United boss and with the mood in their camp appearing at a red-hot high, the Giallorossi open this weekend’s fixtures sat at the top of the Serie A standings. One of just three top-flight sides who can boast a 100% start, Sunday’s guests once again caught the eye in midweek. Managing to find a way to build off of their stunning last-gasp 2-1 win against Sassuolo when returning from the international break, Mourinho’s men breezed past CSKA Sofia three days ago. Eventually storming their way to a thumping 5-1 victory at the Stadio Olimpico, Roma have now won each of their six competitive contests across all formats since opening the new season. With summer arrival Tammy Abraham really impressing since making the move from Chelsea, there is no doubt that the Italian giants should be smelling another chance this weekend. Gaining a reputation for their clinical displays in the final third and already racking up nine Serie A goals in their three contests, a downbeat Verona should face another stern test this weekend. Opening the new season with an action-packed 3-2 defeat against Sassuolo last month, Sunday’s hosts are one of just two sides who are yet to get a single point on the board so far. Suffering a 3-1 loss the last time they welcomed Roma to the Stadio Marc’Antonio Bentegodi, the Giallorossi rightfully open as a leading pick.

Tip: Roma win & over 1.5 goals @ 6/5

18:00 Montreal vs Chicago Fire

For our final Tip of the Day, we turn our attention to the MLS and a Montreal side who should be smelling the chance to extend their buffer in the Final Series spots. While Wilfried Nancy’s side would have been disappointed to have returned from the international break with a close-fought 1-0 defeat against Nashville, the Eastern Conference outfit really made an immediate return to winning ways in midweek. Putting in what was an all-action display away at Orlando City as they stormed their way to a 4-2 victory on the road, their new boss has been filled with praise for his side’s displays this season. Signing off August with a 3-1 romp against Toronto, Sunday’s hosts have also lost just one of their last six MLS matchups, a run that stems back over the past six weeks. Holding a two-point buffer from dropping out of the top-seven, Montreal have also largely impressed with their displays at the DRV PNK Stadium. Aside from that defeat at the hands of Nashville, that is the only loss that Nancy’s side have suffered on home soil in any of their last eight outings. Given Chicago’s continued issues, this weekend’s traveling fans will know that they face another stern test here. Putting in a woeful display earlier in the week and coming under more scrutiny, the Fire were hit with a 3-0 drumming away at DC United. The feel of a club in the midst of a real nightmare, Raphaël Wicky’s man have now lost four of their last five MLS matchups and they have enured a torrid run on their travels.

Tip: Montreal win @ 5/6
