With a hectic Saturday schedule from across Europe’s footballing tiers, we here at Soccer News have searched far and wide to find a handful of helpful tips that can boost your weekend acca:
Saturday 1st February
BST 14:30 Borussia Dortmund vs Union Berlin
Starting with Saturday’s hosts, putting in what was another rampant display and picking up a 5-1 win over Koln last weekend, the mood in Borussia Dortmund’s camp is certainly on the rise after a string of free-scoring performances. Also putting five past Augsburg on the road a fortnight ago, Lucien Favre’s men have now bagged 10 goals in back-to-back Bundesliga appearances. Knowing that three points on Saturday could see them move within a single point of league leaders RB Leipzig, Die Borussen have now scored at least a trio of strikes in five of their last six matchups, a run that stems back to the end of November. One man who has really caught the eye since securing a move to Signal-Iduna-Park earlier in the month has been striking sensation, Erling Haaland. Bagging yet another brace against Koln last weekend and also scoring a famous hat-trick on his Dortmund debut against Augsburg, the 19-year-old has remarkably scored five goals in just 59 minutes of action. On the flip side, while Union Berlin may have managed to pick up a 2-0 win over Augsburg last time out, the Bundesliga debutants are still in the midst of a worrying rut. Losing three of their last four top-flight matchups, including a 3-1 hammering against Leipzig a fortnight ago, it should also be noted that Urs Fischer’s men have shipped at least a pair of strikes in five of their last six matches on the road.
Tip: Borussia Dortmund to score over 2.5 goals & Erling Haaland to score anytime @ 11/10
15:00 Birmingham City vs Nottingham Forest
Putting in what was an eye-catching display and grabbing a shock 1-0 win away at fellow play-off hopefuls Brentford in midweek, Nottingham Forest find themselves enjoying quite the purple patch. With West Brom once again slipping up at Cardiff on Tuesday, the Reds now sit just two points adrift of the automatic spots and have their sights set on mounting a Premier League return this year. Unbeaten in their last seven Championship appearances over the past seven weeks, Head Coach Sabri Lamouchi has seen his side win five of those matchups and the mood in his camp only continuing to rise. One man to potentially keep an eye out for this weekend could be Tuesday’s hero, Joe Lolley. Bagging the winner in West London in midweek, the 27-year-old has four goals in his last five Championship matchups and should be relishing his trip to the Midlands this weekend. While the Blues might be in the midst of a five-match unbeaten run across all formats, they could only muster an FA Cup replay against League One Coventry last week and Birmingham have continued to show some worrying issues on home soil. Pep Clotet’s men have lost four of their last five matches at St. Andrew’s and have not recorded a home victory since the 26th of October. Even more worrying for Birmingham, Saturday’s hosts have shipped 14 goals in just their last five appearances on home soil.
Tip: Nottingham Forest draw no bet @ 10/11
15:00 Halifax Town vs Bromley
Making a much-needed return to winning ways and enjoying what has been another stellar purple patch, Halifax once again caught the eye in their 4-2 victory over Dover in midweek. Reclaiming their spot in the play-offs and with their sights now firmly set on landing a maiden campaign in the Football League, Saturday’s hosts are in the midst of a four-match winning run across all competitions and are enjoying a seven-match unbeaten run. With a growing reputation for their performances in the final third, Pete Wild’s men have scored 12 goals on their winning run, including putting five past Maidenhead a fortnight ago. With the mood around West Yorkshire once again on the rise, a huge part of Halifax’s recent resurge has been thanks to their continued performances on home soil. Recording nine strikes in back-to-back National League appearances at the Shay Stadium, the Blues should be relishing a struggling Bromley’s arrival this weekend. Hit with what was a shock 2-1 defeat at home against Barnet last week, Saturday’s guests now find themselves enduring a three-match losing run and have continued on what has been a worrying rut. Shipping a pair of goals in each of their three defeats on the bounce, Neil Smith’s men also have a growing reputation for their issues on the road. Bromley have now lost their last four away matches on the spin, including a 3-0 hammering away at lower league Dorking Wanderers last month.
Tip: Halifax win @ 17/10
