With a hectic Sunday afternoon of action from across Europe’s footballing top-tiers, we here at Soccer News have found a handful of helpful tips that can boost your weekend acca:
Sunday 1st September
BST 16:30 Arsenal vs Tottenham
Starting with Sunday’s hosts, while Arsenal may have suffered a 3-1 loss away at Anfield last weekend, a result that saw their winning start come to an end, Unai Emery had plenty of positives to take away from Merseyside. Opening the new campaign with back-to-back victories against Newcastle and Burnley, a huge part of the Gunners’ top-four charge will come down to their continued showings at the Emirates. The former PSG boss has seen his side lose just one of their last 19 Premier League home matches in North London, a run that stems back August 2018. Also spearheaded by Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang who already has two goals in his opening three games, Arsenal should be confident of picking up North London bragging rights this weekend. With Tottenham slumping to a 1-0 loss against a struggling Newcastle on home soil last time out, Mauricio Pochettino has seen his men record just one win in their opening three contests and have continued to struggle on the road. Spurs have failed to win any of their last seven Premier League matches away from their new stadium, losing six of those contests.
Tip: Arsenal win @ 13/10
17:00 Lazio vs Roma
Opening the new Serie A campaign with an empathic 3-0 win against Sampdoria last weekend, Lazio have really laid down an early marker. Also continuing to build off of a very eye-catching summer that saw them win each of their six pre-season appearances, Head Coach Simone Inzaghi has his sights firmly set on securing a European return come next year. Also showing some real form in the final third, one man to watch out for on Sunday will be attacking talisman Ciro Immobile. Bagging a brace in Lazio’s routine victory on the road last weekend, the former Borussia Dortmund striker recorded 15 Serie A strikes last season and once again claimed I Biancocelesti’s Golden Boot. While Roma may have managed to keep their unbeaten run alive against Genoa last weekend, Lazio’s bitter rivals have shown some worrying defensive issues. Shipping three at home to Genoa in a dramatic 3-3 draw at the Stadio Olimpico last time out, Head Coach Paulo Fonseca has seen his side ship two or more goals in four of their last five and have failed to record a clean sheet in any of their last seven appearances.
Tip: Ciro Immobile to score anytime @ 10/11
18:00 Atletico Madrid vs Eibar
Starting with Sunday’s hosts, after opening the 2019/2020 La Liga campaign with back-to-back victories over Leganes and Getafe, many around the Wanda Metropolitano are starting to believe that Los Colchoneros could clinch their first domestic crown since 2014. Also still boosted by bringing in the likes of João Felix, a huge part of any title charge in Madrid will come thanks to their continued defensive stability. Now recording back-to-back clean sheets and the only side in Spain’s top-tier yet to concede a single goal so far, the hosts also shipped 27 La Liga goals last season and once again held the best defensive record. With Eibar so publically struggling at the start of the new season, Diego Simeone’s men should be confident of extending their 100% winning start. Suffering a 2-1 loss against Mallorca on the opening weekend and also playing out a lackluster 0-0 draw against fellow returners Osasuna, Eibar could be in for another tricky campaign this year. With Atletico picking up a 1-0 win when the two sides met back in April, we’re backing a similar outcome on Sunday.
Tip: Atletico Madrid win to nil @ 1/1
