20th February: Saturday’s Football Accumulator – 6/1

With another stacked weekend of action on our hands, we have a host of noteworthy meetings from across England that are worth keeping an eye out for. So, for those of you looking to stick on a Saturday acca, we have searched far and wide to find you a handful of helpful tips.

Saturday 20th February

BST 12:30 Southampton vs Chelsea

Starting with Saturday’s guests, putting in another professional display earlier in the week, there is no doubt that Chelsea have really impressed since Thomas Tuchel took charge last month. Eventually picking up a deserved 2-0 win against Newcastle at Stamford Bridge on Monday night, the former PSG boss should find the mood in his camp at a real high. Finding a route back into the top-four and with a Champions League knockout meeting against Atletico Madrid fast approaching, the Blues now find themselves enjoying a five-match winning run across all formats. Also managing to book their spot in the quarter-finals of this year’s FA Cup away at Barnsley last week, Tuchel is yet to taste defeat since taking over in West London. With summer arrival Timo Werner ending his sluggish run against Newcastle earlier in the week, Chelsea have also impressed with their continued displays at the back. Recording another clean sheet in the capital on Monday night, the former champions have conceded just a single strike in Tuchel’s six games in charge. On the flip side, throwing away the lead and hit with a 2-1 defeat against Wolves at St. Mary’s last weekend, Southampton find themselves in the midst of a Premier League nightmare. Including that woeful 9-0 drumming against Manchester United on the road earlier in the month, the Saints have lost their last six straight top-flight matchups. Enduring their worst run in the club’s history, Chelsea should be smelling a golden chance.

Tip: Chelsea win & Chelsea to score over 1.5 goals @ 11/10

15:00 Rochdale vs Plymouth Argyle

Managing to extend on their recent purple patch at home against Fleetwood last weekend, Plymouth have really impressed many since making the move up to League One last year. Claiming a deserved 1-0 victory last time out, the Greens have secured back-to-back wins and have not lost a single third-tier matchup since opening 2021. Appearing to only be going from strength to strength since opening the New Year, Ryan Lowe’s side are unbeaten in each of their last eight straight League One appearances. In fact, along with snatching points off of both Accrington Stanley and Portsmouth over the past three weeks, Plymouth’s eye-catching run was highlighted by a 2-1 victory against Sunderland. Finding a route back into the top-half of the table, some in their camp might even be dreaming of mounting a shock play-off charge this year. Knowing that victory on the road this weekend could see them move within striking distance of the top-six, Lowe’s side should be smelling a real chance on their travels. On the flip side, while the Greens might be dreaming of a play-off finish, Rochdale find themselves battling it out at the opposite end of the League One table. Opening Saturday’s fixtures holding just a two-point buffer from slipping into the drop zone, the Blues were last seen getting hit with a 1-0 loss against Blackpool. In fact, losing their last three contests on the spin, it should also be noted Rochdale have landed just a single win since the middle of December.

Tip: Plymouth Argyle win @ 21/20

20:00 Real Valladolid vs Real Madrid

Starting with Saturday’s guests, watching league leaders Atletico Madrid slip up in midweek, Los Blancos should be hopeful of making up some ground this weekend. With a Champions League knockout tie against Italian outfit Atalanta fast approaching, the defending La Liga champions have managed to enjoy a recent boost. Bouncing back from that shock defeat against Levante when drawing a close to January, Real Madrid were last seen putting on another professional performance. Managing to pick up what was a deserved 2-0 win against Valencia on home soil, Zinedine Zidane’s men have won each of their last three top-flight contests on the bounce. Opening this weekend’s fixtures sat six points adrift of Atletico and knowing they have a must-win contest on the road, the former French icon will be calling on Karim Benzema to spearhead their charge at the Estadio Municipal José Zorrilla. Once again finding the net against Valencia last time out, the 33-year-old also has four in his last five La Liga matchups. Given Valladolid’s extended issues, Saturday’s hosts find themselves in the midst of a real relegation battle. Still sat in the bottom-three, Pucelanos have failed to win any of their last six top-flight fixtures on the bounce. Also collecting just a single point from their last four matchups on home soil, we’re backing a similar away victory this weekend.

Tip: Real Madrid win & under five goals @ 3/4
