21st April: Sunday’s Football Accumulator – 9/1

With a Sunday packed with action from across the footballing world, we here at Soccer News have found a handful of helpful tips that can boost your weekend acca:

Sunday 21st April

BST 14:00 Toulouse vs Lille

Starting with Sunday’s visitors, coming off the back of a historic 5-1 win over runaway league leaders PSG last weekend, the mood in Lille’s camp couldn’t be any higher. While they may have only slowed down Les Parisiens title party, Christophe Galtier’s side are enjoying their most successful Ligue 1 campaign in recent memory. Already securing their spot in the Champions League for next season, The Great Danes have lost just one of their last 13 top-flight outings and their form in the final third has continued to impress many around the Stade Pierre-Mauroy. With only PSG holding a better attacking tally this season, one man who has really spearheaded Lille’s European push has been the red-hot Nicolas Pepe. Finding the net against the defending Ligue 1 champions last weekend, the 23-year-old has 19 goals to his name and sits second in the overall goalscoring charts, only behind Kylian Mbappe. Given Toulouse’s inconsistencies at the back end of the campaign, Pepe should be confident of extending his recent tally. Suffering a 2-1 loss away at Montpellier last weekend, Alain Casanova’s side have recorded just one win in their last four and any chance of a late push for the top half appears to be off the table. Also recording just two clean sheets in their last 11 appearances, we’re backing Pepe to enjoy a successful afternoon in the final third.

Tip: Nicolas Pepe to score anytime @ 6/4

16:00 Cardiff vs Liverpool

Picking up a 4-1 win away at Porto in midweek and securing their spot in the semi-final of this year’s Champions League, Liverpool are enjoying another successful campaign both domestically and in Europe. Reclaiming their spot at the top of the Premier League table, Jurgen Klopp’s side are enjoying a seven-match winning run across all competitions and are unbeaten since the 7th of January. Still dreaming of a historic double-winning season, many around Anfield have been excited by the ongoing for of forward Sadio Mane. Finding the net away at Porto on Wednesday, the Senegal international already has 18 Premier League goals this campaign and is a leading contender to win the PFA Player of the Year award. Scoring in back to back appearances for Liverpool, the 27-year-old also has nine in his last 10 for Klopp’s side. While Liverpool might be enjoying a battle at the top of the table, Cardiff find themselves in their own battle at the other end. Despite picking up a 2-0 win over Brighton on Tuesday, Neil Warnock’s side sit two points adrift of safety and face an unenviable task this weekend. Also losing three of their last four in South Wales, the Bluebirds suffered a 4-1 defeat when the two sides met back in October. With Mane bagging a brace in the reverse fixture on Merseyside, we’re backing Mane to once again find the net on Sunday afternoon.

Tip: Sadio Mane to score anytime @ 11/10

21:00 DC United vs New York City FC

Starting with Sunday’s hosts, after putting three past Colorado on the road last weekend, DC United are enjoying quite the stellar start to the new MLS campaign. Already holding a one-point buffer at the top of the Eastern Conference and with many tipping them as a leading contender to win this East outright this season, it will be their ongoing for in the final third most impressing head coach Ben Olsen. Putting three past the Rapids last time out, the Red and Black’s have now scored 12 in their opening seven games and also hold the best-attacking record in the division. Unsurprisingly, one man to watch for this weekend’s hosts will be leading goalscorer and former England international, Wayne Rooney. The 33-year-old has four goals in his past six appearances and also sits fourth in the overall MLS goalscoring charts. While DC might be enjoying a battle at the top of the Eastern Conference, New York City are way down at the other end. Shipping three and managing to pick up just a point against Minnesota last weekend, the Sky Blues are still looking for their first win of the season and their defensive issues will be a growing concern for fans around Yankee Stadium. NYCFC have conceded two or more goals in three of their last four outings and have shipped nine in their opening three matches on the road. Sunday’s visitors also have some unpleasant memories of their previous trip to Washington. With NYCFC slumping to a 3-1 defeat the last time they made the visit to Audi Field, we’re backing a similar outcome for a high-flying DC United on Sunday night.

Tip: DC United win @ 10/11
