21st January: Tuesday’s European Accumulator – 9/1

With a hectic midweek schedule from across Europe on Tuesday night, we here at Soccer News have found a handful of helpful tips that can boost your acca:

Tuesday 21st January

BST 19:45 Napoli vs Lazio

Starting with Tuesday’s guests, coming off the back of yet another stunning display in their thumping 5-1 win over Sampdoria on Saturday, the newly-crowned Super Cup champions are in the midst of what is becoming a stellar purple patch. Now sat third in the Serie A standings and still dreaming of mounting a stunning title charge, Lazio have won each of their last six matches across all competitions and have a growing reputation for their performances in the final third. Led by leading marksman Ciro Immobile who already has 23 strikes to his name this season and sits seven goals clear in the race for the Golden Boot, I Biancocelesti have remarkably recorded nine strikes in just their last two appearances. While Lazio might also be on a run of form that has seen them win each of their last seven away matches against Serie A opposition, Tuesday’s hosts find themselves in the midst of a real crisis. Putting in another worrying display and hit with a shock 2-0 defeat at home against Fiorentina, Napoli have lost their last three Serie A matches on the bounce and have continued to show some glaring issues on home soil. Gennaro Gattuso’s men have lost their last four consecutive matches in front of their own supporters and it should also be noted that they were hit with a 1-0 defeat when they faced off against Lazio on Serie A duties 10 days ago.

Tip: Lazio win @ 17/10

19:45 Leyton Orient vs Northampton Town

Putting in another rampant display in their 4-1 win over Morecambe on Saturday afternoon, few in League Two would have expected Northampton’s stellar rise entering the New Year. Skyrocketing into the play-off positions and knowing that three points in midweek could see them break into the top-three, the Cobblers find themselves in the midst of a four-match winning run across all competitions and the mood in their camp remains at a season-high. Tasting defeat just once since the 7th of December, Keith Curle’s men also have a growing reputation for their performances in the final third. Along with picking up back-to-back victories away from the PTS Academy Stadium, including a 2-1 win away at play-off outsiders Salford earlier in the month, Northampton have scored 10 goals in their last three victories. While the East Midlands outfit might be enjoying their brightest run of the season so far, the same can not be said for Tuesday’s hosts. Once again looking over their shoulder at the drop zone, Leyton Orient find themselves in the midst of a five-match winless run and have also failed to win any of their last six straight matches on home soil, a run highlighted by a 2-1 defeat against Non-League Maldon & Tiptree. Even more worrying for Ross Embleton’s men, the O’s have recorded just a sole victory in 90 minutes since the start of October. Given the recent gulf in class between the two sides, we’re backing Northampton to make the trip South confident of extending their winning run.

Tip: Northampton Town draw no bet @ 5/6

20:10 Lyon vs Lille

Despite making a string of changes away at Nantes in the Coupe de France over the weekend, Lyon picked up a dramatic 4-3 win and have continued on quite the stellar resurge. Now within touching distance of climbing into the top-four after a sluggish start to the 2019/2020 campaign, Les Gones have won their last four matches across all competitions and have continued to shine in the final third. Including putting four past Nantes on Saturday, Rudi Garcia’s men have bagged a stunning 17 goals on their four-match winning run. One man who has continued to shine of late and certainly someone to keep an eye out for in midweek will be the red-hot, Moussa Dembele. Once again finding the net on the road over the weekend, the 23-year-old is heavily linked with some of the Premier League elite and has now found the net in each of his last four matches on the bounce. Forming an eye-catching partnership with leading marksman Memphis Depay, there is no doubt that Lyon should be relishing Lille’s arrival on Tuesday. While Les Dogues might be enjoying an eye-catching run in the cups, they are enduring a worrying Ligue 1 run. Hit with back-to-back defeats, including a 5-1 hammering away at Monaco prior to the festive break, the guests have also lost four of their last five matches on the road. Also managing to record just a single victory away from the Stade Pierre-Mauroy so far this season, Tuesday could prove to be another test for Lille.
