Starting with Saturday’s guests, putting in what was another professional display in midweek, there is no doubt that the mood in Norwich’s camp should be at a red-hot high. Eventually leaving Carrow Road with what was a deserved 2-0 victory against Bristol City on home soil, it is no secret that Daniel Farke’s men have an immediate Premier League return at the top of their agenda. Despite sacrificing their Premier League status last summer, the one-time Borussia Dortmund coach already finds his side holding a seven-point buffer at the top of the Championship table. With it appearing that their close-fought defeat against fellow second-tier returners Watford last month was just a minor blip, Norwich now find themselves enjoying a four-match winning run across all formats. Picking up a 1-0 win against Barnsley on their recent purple patch, it should also be noted that the Yellows have lost just a single matchup since way back on December 2nd. Really impressing with their continued performances at both ends of the pitch, the Canaries should be confident of extending on their FA Cup adventure this weekend. On the flip side, while Norwich might be catching the eye in 2021, the same cannot be said for Barnsley. Hit with a 1-0 loss away at Watford earlier in the week, the Reds find themselves in the midst of a recent blip. Despite finding an FA Cup bounce against League One outfit Tranmere on January 10th, Saturday’s hosts have lost each of their last three straight meetings against Championship opposition.

15:00 Crewe Alexandra vs AFC Wimbledon

While Crewe would have been disappointed to have played out three League One stalemates on the spin either side of their enforced break, the Reds have once again impressed many this season. Managing to make a return to winning ways earlier in the week after picking up an action-packed 3-2 win against Bristol Rovers on home soil, the Railwaymen suddenly have yet another promotion charge on their agenda. Securing an automatic route to England’s third-tier last year, Head Coach David Artell finds his side sat just a single point adrift of finding a route into the play-off positions. Enjoying a seven-match unbeaten run across all formats and with an ever-growing reputation for their performances in the final third, Crewe should also be boosted by their stunning record on home soil. Cementing their spot as one of League One’s surprise packages so far this season, the Reds have not lost a single third-tier showdown in Cheshire since way back on November 3rd. Smelling a real chance to make it back-to-back wins on Saturday afternoon, it should also be noted that Crewe have collected a staggering 16 points from their last six League One matchups at Alexandra Stadium. On the flip side, putting in a woeful display once again in midweek, AFC Wimbledon were hit with a 4-0 drumming at the hands of Portsmouth and they find themselves in the midst of a real crisis. Freefalling their way into the relegation zone, the Wombles find themselves enduring a five-match losing run in England’s third-tier.

15:00 Oxford United vs Bristol Rovers

Once again keeping our attention on League One this weekend, Oxford have also gained a string of plaudits since opening 2021 and there is no doubt that the U’s are enjoying their brightest run of the season so far. While their inconsistencies at the start of the 2020/21 campaign might have seen some pressure fall on Karl Robinson’s shoulders, the Yellows have bounced back in hugely impressive fashion. Skyrocketing their way up the table and now within striking distance of breaking into the top-half of the table, the former MK Dons boss will be desperate for his side to keep up their recent momentum on Saturday afternoon. Last seen earlier in the month when putting in another hugely impressive performance, Oxford landed an eye-catching 1-0 win against League One leaders Cambridge. Really laying down a thumping marker and likely to be relishing a return to action this weekend after their enforced break, the Oxfordshire outfit are in the midst of an unbeaten run that stems all the way back to November 28th. More impressive, including that 1-0 win against Cambridge last time out, Robinson’s men now find themselves enjoying a remarkable five-match winning run across all formats. With a growing reputation for their free-scoring displays in the final third, Oxford should smell a golden opportunity on Saturday. On the flip side, while this weekend’s hosts might be relishing a return to action at the Kassam Stadium, Bristol Rovers are a side desperate for any kind of bounce. Including a 3-2 defeat against Crewe in midweek, the Pirates have lost each of their last four appearances on the spin.
