BST 19:00 Colchester United vs Tranmere Rovers

Starting with Tuesday’s guests, while Tranmere might have watched Sunderland lift the EFL Trophy at Wembley earlier in the month, The Rovers have bounced back in an impressive fashion. With their sights still firmly set on securing an immediate League One return this year, Keith Hill’s side were last seen over the weekend when putting on an eye-catching display. Picking up a 2-1 win against fellow top-seven contenders Exeter on home soil, the Merseyside outfit open the midweek fixtures with just their goal difference keeping them outside the automatic positions. Collecting seven points from their last three fourth-tier contests, Tranmere also have just a pair of League Two defeats to their name since Boxing Day. Smelling a real chance and unbeaten on their travels since the middle of December, a struggling Colchester should face another stern test on Tuesday night. Battling it out at the foot of the table and with some in their camp still looking over their shoulder at the drop zone, The U’s were last seen over the weekend getting hit with a 1-0 loss against Port Vale. Showing some glaring issues in the final third and without a goal in over 450 minutes of action, Colchester also have just a single win in their last 17 matchups across all formats. With Tranmere picking up a 2-1 win when they last made the trip to Essex back in 2019, we’re backing a similar away win in midweek.

19:00 Southend United vs Walsall

While Southend might have thought they had managed to find a real boost under new boss Mark Molesley, The Shrimpers still appear to be freefalling towards the National League. Throwing away a late lead over the weekend and eventually having to settle for a last-gasp 1-1 draw away at Scunthorpe, the Essex outfit still find themselves sat seven points adrift of safety with time starting to tick away. Really unable to build off of that shock 3-1 win away at Forest Green Rovers last month, Southend are without a win in their last six League Two matchups. Tipped as one of the landslide picks to lose their Football League status this year, The Blues have shown some extended issues in the final third. Despite a spot-kick away at Scunthorpe over the weekend, Southend have failed to bag a single goal from open play on their six-match winless run. On the flip side, while Walsall might feel they have done enough to extend their stay in League Two, The Reds are another side in the midst of their own struggle. Throwing away the lead against Bolton over the weekend, Tuesday’s guests have collected just a single point from their last four contests. Without a win in their last 10 straight matchups, don’t be surprised to see chances come at a premium in Essex. In a matchup between two sides showing a string of issues, we’re backing what could be a cagey encounter in midweek.

19:45 Yeovil Town vs Notts County

Starting with Tuesday’s guests, after picking up the perfect preparation over the weekend, there is no doubt that Notts County will be smelling a real chance to do a quickfire double over Yeovil. Welcoming the midweek hosts to Huish Park Stadium on Saturday afternoon, The Magpies picked up a 2-0 win on home soil and they’re still sat in pole position to secure a play-off finish this year. Managing to bounce back from that close-fought defeat against fellow top-seven contenders Halifax earlier in the month, Head Coach Neal Ardley has seen his side collect seven points from their last three National League matchups. With just a single defeat to their name over the past month and still boosted by that victory over The Glovers on Saturday, Notts have also gained a reputation for their continued success on the road. Ardley’s side are unbeaten in each of their last 11 straight away fixtures across all formats, a run that stems all the way back to November 7th. On the flip side, while The Magpies might be battling it out in the play-off chase, Yeovil are enduring a real sluggish patch. Suffering that 2-0 loss when they faced off against Notts over the weekend, The Glovers have lost four of their last five National League matchups. Enduring their worst run since opening 2021, we’re backing an away victory in midweek.
