26th May: Sunday’s Football Accumulator – 9/1

With Europe’s top-tiers drawing to a conclusion this weekend, we here at Soccer News have found a handful of helpful tips that can boost your Sunday acca:

Sunday 26th May

BST 15:00 Charlton vs Sunderland

Starting with a high-flying Charlton side, while Lee Bowyer’s men may have needed penalties to come past Doncaster last week, the Reds will be heading to Wembley with some much-needed momentum. Enjoying a three-match winning run to end their League One campaign, The Addicks finished the year just three points adrift of securing an automatic route back to the Championship. Winning seven of their final eight matches of the campaign and tasing defeat just once since the 2nd of February, a huge part of Charlton’s end of year charge has come down to their continued form in the final third. Spearheaded by leading goalscorer Lyle Taylor who bagged 22 League One goals this year, Bowyer’s men have now scored two or more goals in six of their seven previous appearances. While Charlton might be enjoying a bright end to the year, Sunderland have begun to show some cause for concern heading to Wembley. Just coming past Portsmouth by an aggregate score of 1-0 last week, Jack Ross’ side have recorded just one win in their last six outings and have now failed to win any of their last four matches away from the Stadium of Light.

Tip: Charlton to lift the trophy @ 1/1

19:30 Roma vs Parma

While Roma have announced that Claudio Ranieri’s brief tenure at the Stadio Olimpico will be coming to an end after Sunday’s matchup, the former Leicester boss has enjoyed his brief cameo in Italy. Helping Roma all but secure Europa League football for next season, I Giallorossi are enjoying an eight-match unbeaten run that stems all the way back to the end of March. A huge part of Roma’s European push at the back end of the campaign has come down to their newfound defensive resolve. Recording back-to-back clean sheets and conceding just one goal in over 350 minutes of Serie A action, their continued performances at the Stadio Olimpico have started to impress. Picking up a 2-0 win against defending champions Juventus in their last matchup on home soil, Roma have won each of their previous three matches at the Stadio Olimpico and have recorded clean sheets in each of those victories. While I Giallorossi are enjoying a purple patch at the end of the year, the same cannot be said about a struggling Parma outfit. Sunday’s visitors have managed to record just one win in their last 10 matches, a run that stems back to the start of March. More worrying for Roberto D’Aversa’s side, The Crusaders are without a win in their last nine appearances on the road and have recorded just one away win in 2019.

Tip: Roma win to nil @ 11/10

19:30 Fiorentina vs Genoa

Starting with Sunday’s hosts, coming off the back of another worrying display in their 1-0 loss away at Genoa last weekend, Fiorentina are enduring a woeful end to the year. Arguably Serie A’s least in from side, The Purples are enduring a six-match losing run and are without a single victory since the 17th of February, a 15-match winless run. Freefalling out of the top-half of the table now holding just a three-point buffer over the drop zone, it will be Fiorentina’s continued struggles in the final third giving Vincenzo Montella the biggest headache. Failing to find the net in any of their previous four defeats, Sunday’s hosts have also failed to register a single goal in over 300 minutes of action at the Stadio Artemio Franchi. While Viola are enduring an abysmal end to the year, the same can be said for fellow strugglers Genoa. Sat one-point adrift of Serie A safety heading into their final matchup of the campaign, Cesare Prandelli will know his side must better Empoli’s result if they’re to extend their stay in Italy’s top-tier. Sadly for Sunday’s visitors, I Rossoblu are now enduring a nine-match winless run and have managed to pick up just a single away victory since the end of September. Given both sides very public struggles at the end of the season, coupled with the two sides playing out a lackluster 0-0 draw when they met back in December, we’re backing a similar outcome on Sunday night.

Tip: Draw @ 7/5
