In the glamour tie of this weekend’s Ligue 1 fixtures, high flyers Lille will travel to the Orange Vélodrome on Friday night.

Starting with Friday’s hosts, while Marseille may have managed to pick up a much needed 1-0 win over Caen last weekend, it doesn’t cover what is becoming a very worrying run of form for Rudi Garcia’s men. With the Blues’ boss under real scrutiny at the Orange Vélodrome, the former European giants have now managed to record just one win in their last 10 attempts, a run that stems back to the 25th of November. It will undoubtedly be Marseille’s home form giving the former Roma manager the biggest headache. This weeks hosts have now failed to win any of their last four matches in front of their own supporters.

As for the visitors, in stark contrast to Marseille, Lille couldn’t be enjoying a brighter run of form entering the New Year. Picking up a 1-0 win over lower league Sete and continuing their journey in the Coupe de France, Christophe Galtier’s side have now won their last four matches on the bounce and will have their sights set on securing a return to the Champions League. Along with leading goalscorer Nicolas Pepe grabbing 13 Ligue 1 goals this season, fans around the Stade Pierre-Mauroy will also be impressed by their form on the road. Lille are yet to be beaten on their travels since a 2-0 loss to Nice back in November.
