With the final round of Premier League fixtures before heading into the international break, we have a stacked weekend schedule from across England. On that note, for those of you looking to stick on a Saturday acca, we have found a handful of helpful tips that are worth keeping an eye out for.
Saturday August 28th
BST 15:00 West Ham vs Crystal Palace
Starting with Saturday’s hosts, only laying down another marker earlier in the week and gaining a string of plaudits, West Ham should find the mood in their camp at a red-hot high. Last seen on Monday night picking up a thumping 4-1 romp when Leicester came to the London Stadium, David Moyes’ men have opened the 2021/22 campaign with back-to-back wins. Continuing to build off of their Europa League finish last season, the former Manchester United boss finds his side currently sat at the top of the Premier League standings. Bagging a quartet of goals in their back-to-back matchups, including an action-packed 4-2 win away at Newcastle on the opening weekend, The Hammers also have one attacking talisman enjoying an early-season purple patch. Making West Ham history on Monday night as he became their all-time Premier League top-scorer, Michail Antonio bagged a brace against The Foxes last time out. Taking the number nine shirt over the summer and already with three goals to his name, the one-time Nottingham Forest man should be looking to extend on his run. On the flip side, crashing out of the EFL Cup in midweek after a sluggish 1-0 defeat away at a heavily-altered Watford, Crystal Palace are a side really seeking a boost. Struggling to find their feet under new boss Patrick Vieira, The Eagles are yet to pick up a single victory across any format so far. Likewise, Saturday’s guests have failed to bag even one goal on their downbeat start to the new campaign.
Tip: Michail Antonio to score anytime & West Ham to have over four corners @ 19/10
15:00 Fulham vs Stoke
While Fulham might have lost their Premier League status last season, The Cottagers appear to have really found their feet after bringing in new boss Marco Silva over the summer. Watching Scott Parker make the move to Bournemouth, the West London outfit have made it no secret that they have their sights set on securing an immediate top-flight return at the first attempt. Despite having to settle for a 1-1 draw against Middlesbrough on the opening weekend, Saturday’s hosts now find themselves in the midst of a four-match winning run across all formats. Managing to extend on their EFL Cup adventure away at fellow Championship side Birmingham in midweek, the former Everton boss has also seen his new squad put in some eye-catching displays in the final third. Including a thumping 5-1 romp away at Huddersfield on August 15th, Fulham have bagged at least a pair of goals in each of their four straight wins. On the flip side, while this weekend’s hosts might be sat at the top of the table, Stoke are enjoying what has been their own early-season purple patch. Also extending on their EFL Cup run against Doncaster Rovers earlier in the week, The Potters have collected 10 points from their opening four Championship matchups. With that run highlighted by a thumping 3-1 win against the summer’s play-off finalists Swansea on the road, we really have a battle between two sides who find the mood in their camp at a real high in the capital.
Tip: Both teams to score @ 1/1
15:00 Forest Green Rovers vs Port Vale
Starting with the hosts, while Forest Green would have been disappointed to have seen their EFL Cup run come to an end against Premier League debutants Brentford in midweek, they will be glad to make a return to League Two duties on Saturday afternoon. Looking to go one step further this season after crashing out in the play-offs earlier in the year, Head Coach Rob Edwards has seen his side come flying out the traps this time around. Last seen on fourth-tier duties involved in a real thriller, the Gloucestershire-based outfit eventually picked up a stunning 6-3 victory against Crawley on home soil. Skyrocketing their way to the top of the table, it should be noted that The Green Devils are the only League Two sides who can still boast a 100% start to the 2021/22 campaign. Really gaining a reputation for their free-scoring displays in the final third, a run that also saw them land a 3-1 win away at Walsall on August 14th, Forest Green should be smelling a chance to lay down another marker here. On the flip side, eventually having to settle for another draw last weekend away at Stevenage, Port Vale have become a real stalemate specialist. Since opening the new campaign with a 1-0 loss against Northampton on the road, The Valiants have since drawn each of their last three League Two matchups. Facing what should be a tough step up in class when they face off against the early-season leaders this weekend, we’re backing a home victory here.
Tip: Forest Green Rovers win @ 21/20
