While the Premier League might be taking a brief winter break this weekend, we still have a host of noteworthy meetings from up and down the country. On that note, for those of you looking to stick on a Saturday acca, we have found a handful of helpful tips that are worth keeping an eye out for.
Saturday January 29th
BST 15:00 QPR vs Reading
Starting with the hosts, while QPR would have been disappointed to have only picked up a single point against Swansea in midweek, the mood in Mark Warburton’s camp should still be at a real high. Only continuing to gain a host of plaudits from across the Championship so far this season, the Hoops are firmly sat in pole position to clinch at least a play-off spot this year. In fact, now sat just three points adrift of climbing into the automatic spots, the one-time Rangers boss finds his side enjoying a six-match unbeaten run. With their recent purple patch highlighted by victories against Coventry and West Brom, QPR should be smelling a golden chance in west London here. Also managing to book their spot in the fourth-round of this year’s FA Cup earlier in the month, a struggling Reading squad will be in for another tough test on Saturday afternoon. Last seen getting hit with an action-packed defeat against another play-off contender in Huddersfield, the Royals are in the midst of a Championship nightmare. Including a 7-0 drumming at the hands of Fulham on January 11th, this weekend’s guests have lost each of their last five matchups across all formats. Likewise, without a win to their name since the end of November, it is hard to see anything other than a routine QPR win here.
Tip: QPR win & under 4.5 goals @ 17/20
15:00 Carlisle vs Sutton
Putting in another professional display earlier in the week and booking their spot in the semi-final of this year’s EFL Cup, there are no doubts that Sutton have continued to shock many across League Two this season. While the Yellows might have only made their Football League debut last summer, Matt Gray’s men suddenly have back-to-back promotions at the top of their agenda. Remarkably opening this weekend’s fixtures sat with just their goal difference keeping them outside of the automatic promotion places, the south London outfit will be looking to lay down another marker here. Grabbing a 1-0 win against Harrogate earlier in the week, it should also be noted that Saturday’s guests are now in the midst of an eight-match unbeaten run across all formats, a run that stems back to December 7th. Likewise, mustering 11 points from just their last five League Two outings, Sutton will also be boosted by the last time they faced off against Carlisle. Romping their way to a 4-0 win when the two sides faced off back in September, the Cumbrians could be in for another tough task at Brunton Park. Last seen getting hit with a 3-0 defeat away at Forest Green, Saturday’s hosts have managed to win just one of their last five matchups across all formats. With just a single win in Cumbria from their last four attempts, an away draw no bet appears at attractive odds.
Tip: Sutton draw no bet @ 5/6
15:00 Solihull Moors vs Altrincham
Starting with Saturday’s hosts, putting in what was a hugely impressive display on the road in midweek, it appears that Solihull Moors have managed to find a real boost at an important time. Claiming a deserved 2-0 win away at Torquay, Neal Ardley’s men now have their sights firmly set on making a charge for the play-off places. Winning each of their last three matchups across all formats, a run highlighted by a thumping 5-0 victory against relegation scrappers Dover last weekend, the Midlands-based outfit have continued to impress with their displays at both ends of the pitch. Opening Saturday’s meeting at Damson Park with just their goal difference keeping them outside the top-seven, it should also be noted that Solihull Moors have lost just a pair of their last 10 contests across all formats, a run that stems back to November 20th. Looking to skyrocket their way into the play-off places here, it’s also worth highlighting that Ardley’s side have collected nine points from their last four National League matchups on home soil. On the flip side, last seen getting hit with a 2-1 loss at home against Torquay, Altrincham are in the midst of what has become a hugely worrying run of form. In fact, Saturday’s guests have remarkably failed to win any of their last 11 straight outings across all formats. With Solihull winning each of their last three meetings against the fifth-tier strugglers, we’re backing a similar outcome here.
