With the likes of Brazil’s Serie A taking center stage this weekend, we still have a stacked schedule for across the globe. So, for those of you looking to stick on a Saturday acca, we have found a handful of helpful tips that are worth keeping an eye out for.
Saturday July 2nd
BST 19:45 Sligo Rovers vs Shelbourne
Starting with Saturday’s hosts, although Sligo might have been disappointed to have only collected just a single point on their travels last weekend, the Rovers are enjoying a largely impressive run of form. With their recent unbeaten run highlighted by a 3-0 win against the Finn Harps on June 18th, John Russell’s men are yet to taste defeat from any of their last five Premier Division matchups. Appearing to have found a welcomed boost on either side of the international break, it should also be noted that the Reds have managed to muster back-to-back clean sheets for the first time since the start of March. Despite being last seen grabbing a 0-0 stalemate against Drogheda on the road, Sligo have also continued to shine on home soil. Including snatching points off of runaway defending champions Shamrock Rovers prior to the international break, it should be highlighted that Saturday’s hosts are unbeaten at the Showgrounds since April 5th. As for the visitors, also coming off the back of their own gritty 0-0 draw, Shelbourne will be hoping to build off of those positives. Eventually snatching a point at home against title outsiders Dundalk, Damien Duff’s men are seeking some recent stability. Failing to win any of their last three Premier Division matchups, the one-time Chelsea winger should be worried by his side’s recent struggles in the final third. It should be highlighted, the Dublin-based outfit have failed to bag a single strike on their three-match winless run.
Tip: Both teams to score – No @ 8/11
20:30 Juventude vs Atletico-MG
Although Atletico-MG might have been frustrated to have only collected a first-leg stalemate against Emelec on Copa Libertadores in midweek, the Galo should be glad to make a return to domestic duties here. Once again battling it out at the top of Brazil’s top-flight and with their sights set on trying to defend their crown this season, Head Coach Antonio Mohamed should still find the mood in his camp at a high. Last seen on Serie A action picking up an action-packed 3-2 win at home against Fortaleza, the Minas Gerais-based outfit should be smelling the chance to lay down another marker here. Suffering just a single defeat from any of their last nine matchups across all formats, a run that stems back to May 25th, Atletico-MG have also won each of their last three domestic showdowns. Likewise, landing a 2-0 victory when they last faced off against Saturday’s hosts eight months ago, Mohamed’s men hold a rather rampant record against the relegation scrappers. It should be highlighted, the Brazilian giants have won seven of their last eight domestic meetings against Juventude. On the flip side, while Juventude might have been last seen mustering a hard-fought point on the road, it does not cover what has been an extended blip. With many tipping Eduardo Baptista as a leading pick to be hit with a Serie B return this season, last weekend’s 0-0 draw against Sao Paulo is the only point that they have taken from their last five attempts.
Tip: Atletico-MG win @ 19/20
23:00 Ceara vs Internacional
Starting with Saturday’s guests, after coming off the back of a downbeat display while on Copa Sudamericana duties in midweek, Internacional will be seeking an immediate boost here. However, while Mano Menezes might have been hit with a deserved 2-0 loss at the hands of Chile-based outfit Colo Colo, the Reds are enjoying an eye-catching domestic run. Putting in a rampant display on home soil last weekend as they breezed their way to a 3-0 romp against Cortibia, it should be highlighted that the Brazilian giants have lost just a single domestic showdown since way back on April 10th. Skyrocketing their way up the Serie A table and opening this weekend’s fixtures hanging onto their spot in the top-four, Internacional have also picked up some notable scalps on their recent top-flight charge. With their recent domestic purple patch underlined by a 3-1 romp against Flamengo last month, Saturday’s guests will be desperate to lay down another marker here. On the flip side, although Ceara might have managed to find a continental boost last time out, they have struggled with their consistency of the past month. With many in their squad likely to still be looking over their shoulder at the drop zone, fans around the Castelão have seen their side fail to win any of their last five Serie A matchups. Likewise, with Internacional losing just one of their last eight straight meetings against Ceara, an away draw no bet can be found at attractive odds here.
