Starting with Wednesday’s hosts, despite getting hit with that 2-0 defeat away at Belgium in last year’s Nations League, England have managed to bounce back. Hosting this summer’s European Championships and with many across the continent tipping them as a standout pick, The Three Lions find themselves enjoying a four-match winning run across all formats. Picking up nine points from their three World Cup qualifying matchups, Gareth Southgate’s side were last seen landing themselves a hard-fought 2-1 victory against Poland on home soil. With Premier League Golden Boot winner Harry Kane expected to spearhead England’s charge at the Riverside Stadium this week, England have continued to impress while on home soil. Managing to prove that their 1-0 loss against Denmark last year was just a minor blip, The Whites have won 13 of their last 14 home fixtures across all formats, a run that stems back to September 2018. On the flip side, while England might be marching towards this summer’s delayed European Championships, Austria are a nation really seeking some stability. Last seen getting hit with a dreadful 4-0 drumming at the hands of Denmark back in March, Wednesday’s guests have managed to win just one of their last four contests, a run that has seen them drop points against Norway and Scotland. While a number of Saturday’s Champions League finalists are set to be given an extended break in midweek, we’re backing England to extend on their winning run in the North East.

While Germany might have thought that they had managed to turn a much-needed corner when opening their World Cup qualifying campaign earlier in the year, the former world champions came crashing back down to earth. Suffering what was a stunning 2-1 defeat at home against North Macedonia on March 31st, The Whites have only shown a host of inconsistencies over the past two years. Enduring what was a sluggish run in last year’s Nations League and coming under real scrutiny after that infamous 6-0 drumming away at Spain back in November, it has also been confirmed that long-standing boss Joachim Löw will step down after the summer. Gaining a real reputation for their extended issues at the back and also playing out a pair of 3-3 draws against Turkey and Switzerland, it should also be noted that Germany have recorded just a trio of clean sheets from any of their last 12 matchups across all formats. Although The Whites might find themselves tipped as a standout pick in midweek, there is no doubt that Denmark will be smelling the chance to cause a real upset. Bouncing back from that gritty 4-2 defeat away in Belgium seven months ago, The Reds have won their last three matchups on the bounce, including a stunning 4-0 romp against Austria on foreign soil last time out. Gaining a reputation for their free-scoring displays, don’t be surprised to see another lively contest on Wednesday night.
