Liverpool will be quietly confident after a run of reasonable results, whilst Bolton will look to maintain their good form under new Manager Owen Coyle.
Whilst the calls for Rafa Benitez’ sacking have died down only marginally, there is a new sense of optimism surrounding the team who looked to be in absolute freefall until recently. Even last weeks toothless draw with Wolves has failed to draw too much criticism. The Reds fans are eyeing what would normally be a fairly easy run of games starting with bottom half of the table Bolton. Injuries are not what they were with Benayoun, Torres and Johnson the only real first team absentees. Gerrard’s fitness is imprving all the time and Liverpool fans, and Rafa Benitez, will be hoping he can drive their team on to win.
Bolton’s Owen Coyle has got off to a good start as manager. He’ll be pleased to get tha monkey off his back which was a match up with old club Burnley. Coming through with a marginal 1-0 victory was probably the best result all round, as Coyle managed to win without humiliating his former team. Injuries are few and far between throughout his squad, with no first teamers suffering at present. Coyle’s reported bust up with ‘Keeper Juski Jaskellainan is unlikely to result in the shot stopper missing a game.
Both managers will feel that they have a chance in this game, with Coyle believing he is getting the most out of his squad, but Benitez will have faith in Gerrard and co. to get the result they need.
Verdict: Liverpool Home Win
