With the Premier League making its return this weekend, we’re back to another action-packed weekend of football from across England’s top tiers. On that note, we here at Soccer News have found a handful of helpful tips that can boost your Saturday acca:
Saturday 30th March
BST 15:00 Leicester vs Bournemouth
Picking up a 2-1 win away at Burnley prior to the international break there really feels like Leicester have refound their feet. Now gaining back to back wins over the Clarets and Fulham, the arrival of Brendan Rodgers will have the Foxes believing they can make a late push for the final Europa League spot. With the former Celtic boss handing Saturday’s hosts a new attacking identity, Leicester have also begun to improve their performances at the King Power. Despite losing their final four home contests in Leicestershire at the end of Claude Puel’s tenure, the Blues have won their last two matches on home soil and the ongoing form of leading goalscorer Jamie Vardy will be exciting Rodgers. The now former England international has bagged four Premier League goals in his last four appearances and has also recorded three strikes in his last two outings at the King Power. Given Bournemouth’s very public struggles on the road, Vardy and co should be confident of extending that run. Aside from picking up a 2-0 win away at rock-bottom Huddersfield earlier in the month, Eddie Howe’s side have remarkably lost their other 10 previous matches away from the Vitality. Given the Cherries’ woeful record on their travels, we’re backing Vardy to enjoy another successful afternoon in the final third.
Tip: Jamie Vardy to score anytime @ 11/10
15:00 Aston Villa vs Blackburn
Although almost everyone had written off Aston Villa’s chance of securing a playoff position last month, few would have expected their stellar resurge at the back end of the season. Putting in yet another eye-catching display in their 3-0 victory over fellow playoff contenders Middlesbrough prior to the international break, Dean Smith’s side once again find themselves in the top-six. On a run of form that has seen them win their last four matches on the bounce and yet to taste defeat since the middle of February, it will be their form in the final third most impressing the former Brentford boss. Scoring 11 goals and conceding just one in return on their winning run, one man to watch on Saturday could be Scotland international John McGinn. While Tammy Abraham’s goals may be stealing the headlines at Villa Park, the 24-year-old former Hibernian star has now bagged three goals in his last three Championship appearances. While the Clarets might be enjoying quite the resurge, the same can not be said for a struggling Blackburn side. Coming off the back of a 4-2 hammering away at Sheffield Wednesday last time out, Tony Mowbray’s side have freefallen down to 16th in the table and their form on the road has been nothing short of woeful. Along with shipping four at Hillsborough earlier in the month, Saturday’s visitors have failed to win any of their last five matches away from Ewood Park, losing four of those contests. Now conceding two or more goals in each of their last five matches on the road, we’re backing a comfortable afternoon for a revitalized Aston Villa.
Tip: Home win and over 2.5 goals @ 5/4
15:00 Sheffield United vs Bristol City
Coming off the back of a vital 1-0 win away at automatic promotion rivals Leeds prior to the international break, the mood in Sheffield United’s camp couldn’t be any higher. Picking up three points in a match being billed as their most important of the season, Chris Wilders’ side now once again find themselves in the top two and are in pole position for a Premier League return this year. Now enjoying a three-match winning run and yet to taste defeat since the 16th of January, it has undoubtedly been their defensive stability most impressing fans around Bramall Lane. Along with holding the second best defensive record in the Championship, Saturday’s hosts have recorded seven clean sheets on the bounce, the longest run by any side in the division this campaign. Remarkably not picking the ball out of their net in nearly 650 minutes of action, they are yet to concede a single Championship goal at Bramall Lane since Boxing Day. While United have their sights set on automatic promotion, Bristol City’s woeful run at the back end of the campaign has seen them freefall out of the playoff positions. Playing out a sluggish 1-1 draw against rock-bottom Ipswich earlier in the month, the Robins have now failed to win any of their last six outings, a run that stems back to the 12th of February.
