31st July: Saturday’s Football Accumulator – 9/1

With the start of the 2021/22 campaigns from across Europe just around the corner, we have another stacked weekend of action on the cards. On that note, for those of you looking to stick on a Saturday acca, we have found a handful of helpful tips that are worth keeping an eye out for.

Saturday 31st July

BST 13:30 Rangers vs Livingston

Managing to end Celtic’s bid to make it 10 Premiership titles on the bounce last season, there is no doubt that Rangers have gained a string of admirers under Steven Gerrard. Storming their way to a first domestic crown over the past decade and looking to extend their reign this time around, The Blues certainly gained some perfect momentum last weekend. Despite the former Liverpool icon criticising his side after a 1-0 friendly loss against Tranmere Rovers earlier in the month, Rangers signed off their pre-season run with a stunning 2-1 win against Spanish giants Real Madrid. With many tipping Saturday’s hosts as a clear pick to retain their status as Scottish champions this season, Gerrard’s side should be looking to open the 2021/22 campaign with a champion’s display at Ibrox. Remarkably winning all of their top-flight matchups on home soil last season, there is no doubt that Livingston couldn’t have wished for a tougher ask on Saturday lunchtime. While The Yellows might have managed to extend on their League Cup run over the past three weeks, they endured a woeful end to last year’s campaign. Picking up just a single point from their final five Premiership contests, it should also be noted that David Martindale’s side recorded just one win in any of their last 12 fixtures. With Rangers landing a 3-0 victory the last time they faced off against Livingston, we’re backing a statement from Gerrard’s side here.

Tip: Rangers to score in both halves @ 6/4

22:00 Seattle Sounders vs SJ Earthquakes

Starting with Saturday’s hosts, while Seattle might still find themselves leading the chase in the Western Conference, they are coming off the back of a worrying display. Missing out on what could have been a real chance to widen their buffer at the top of the table, The Sounders were hit with a 3-1 drumming against Sporting KC on home soil. With some billing their performance at Lumen Field as a season-worst display, The Greens also saw their eye-catching home record come to an abrupt end. Now with just a pair of MLS victories in their last six attempts, Brian Schmetzer’s side also tasted their first home defeat since way back in December. Knowing that they need an immediate return to winning ways on Saturday night, it should be noted that Seattle have seen three of their last four matchups finish with both teams finding the net. On the flip side, once again having to settle for a point last time out, San Jose have gained a reputation as a real stalemate specialist. Battling it out at the foot of the Western Conference, The Earthquakes have now played out a draw in each of their last four straight MLS contests. Once again tipped as a real outsider to land a Final Series spot, it should also be highlighted that Saturday’s guests have seen each of their last five appearances finish with both teams finding the net. In a matchup that could prove to be another lively affair this weekend, we’re backing a similar outcome here.

Tip: Both teams to score @ 7/10

23:00 São Paulo vs Palmeiras

For our final Tip of the Day, we turn our attention Brazil’s Serie A and what is a high-flying Palmeiras side. Continuing to impress many and in the midst of what has been a stellar purple patch, Palestra were previously seen last weekend putting in another eye-catching display. Landing a deserved 1-0 victory against Fluminense on home soil, many have tipped Abel Ferreira’s side as a leading contender in the title chase. Skyrocketing their way to the top of the table and holding a three-point buffer, The Greens are now enjoying a stellar nine-match winning run across all formats, a run that stems back to June 23rd. Also extending on their Copa Libertadores adventure thanks to a 2-0 aggregate win against Universidad Católica last week, Palmeiras have also impressed with their continued performances at the back. Smelling what should be another chance on the road this weekend, Saturday’s guests have recorded four clean sheets on the spin, including three consecutive away clean sheets. On the flip side, although Palmeiras might be leading the title chase, São Paulo find themselves battling it out at the other end of the table. Last seen on Serie A duties getting hit with a woeful 5-1 drumming against Flamengo on the road, the hosts open the weekend sat in the drop zone. Winning just a pair of their last 13 top-flight contests, an away victory appear at attractive odds here.

Tip: Palmeiras win @ 7/5
