As the Premier League season draws to an end, we have found a handful of helpful tips from across the footballing world that can boost your Saturday acca:
Saturday 4th May
BST 14:30 Borussia Mönchengladbach vs Hoffenheim
Starting with Saturday’s visitors, while Hoffenheim suffered a 4-1 loss against Wolfsburg last weekend, Julian Nagelsmann will be hoping that was just a minor blip from his side. Winning their previous four Bundesliga matches prior to last weeks defeat, Die Kraichgauer have remarkably lost just two of their top-flight outings since the middle of January. With the chance to leapfrog both Bayer Leverkusen and Borussia Mönchengladbach in the race to secure European football for next season, a huge part of Hoffenheim’s late resurge has been their continued form on the road. The visitors have won their last two matches away from the PreZero Stadium, scoring a staggering nine goals. More impressive, Nagelsmann’s men have lost just one Bundesliga away matchup since the 15th of September. One man who has really spearheaded Hoffenheim’s European charge is the red-hot Ishak Belfodil. Averaging the best minute per goal ratio in Germany’s top-tier in the second half of the season, the 27-year-old has now bagged 10 in his last 11, including seven in his last five. It has been Belfodil’s form on the road that has really started to catch the eye. The Algerian international has scored eight in his last six away from the PreZero Stadium, including a hat-trick away at Augsburg last month. Given Borussia Mönchengladbach’s struggles at the back end of the season, the 27-year-old should be confident of extending his goalscoring tally. Despite still being in the mix to secure a European return, Saturday’s hosts are coming off the back of back-to-back defeats against Stuttgart and RB Leipzig and have recorded just one victory in their last six appearances. Even more worrying for Gladbach boss Dieter Hecking, his side have failed to win any of their last six matches at Borussia-Park, losing four of those contests.
Tip: Ishak Belfodil to score anytime @ 7/4
15:00 Cardiff vs Crystal Palace
Coming off the back of a 0-0 draw against Everton and an incredibly impressive 3-2 win away at the Emirates a fortnight ago, Roy Hodgson will be looking for his side to enjoy a bright end to the year. With the chance to leapfrog West Ham on Saturday, a huge part of Crystal Palace’s resurge has come down to their performances away from Selhurst Park. Including their victory over Arsenal last month, the Eagles have won back-to-back matches on the road and have won four of their last five appearances away from South London. Even more impressive for the former England boss, their defeats away at Tottenham and Liverpool are Palace’s only top-flight away defeats since the start of December. It is also worth noting that Saturday’s visitors have scored two or more goals in seven of their previous 10 matches away from Selhurst Park. While Palace are looking to end their season on a high, it appears that Cardiff are inching closer to an immediate return to the Championship. With just two Premier League games remaining, Neil Warnock’s side sit four points adrift of safety and the Bluebirds have continued to struggle of late. Coming off the back of a 1-0 loss away at an already relegated Fulham last weekend, the Welsh side have now lost five of their last six top-flight matches and their form in the final third has been a huge concern throughout the campaign. Holding the second worst attacking stats in the division, Cardiff have also failed to find the net in four of their last five appearances. With Warnock’s side losing four of their last five matchups in South Wales and conceding two or more goals in each of those defeats, we’re backing Palace to come away with the victory and secure relegation for the Bluebirds on Saturday.
Tip: Crystal Palace win @ 17/10
19:00 New York Red Bulls vs LA Galaxy
While LA Galaxy may have missed out on the playoffs last season, Saturday’s visitors are enjoying a stellar start to the new MLS campaign. Picking up a 2-1 win at home to Real Salt Lake last weekend, Guillermo Barros Schelotto’s side now have the opportunity to climb to the top of the Western Conference on Saturday. With the former Boca Juniors boss now watching his side enjoying a seven-match unbeaten run and winning six of those contests, Galaxy’s scintillating start to the year has been epitomised by leading goalscorer, Zlatan Ibrahimovic. Finding the net in their victory over Salt Lake last weekend, the former Manchester United striker has already bagged eight goals in just his seven MLS appearances this season. Now sat second in the overall goalscoring charts, the 37-year-old has only failed to find the net in just one of his matchups so far. Given Red Bulls’ struggles at the start of the campaign, Ibrahimovic and co should be confident of extending their winning run this weekend. Despite topping the Eastern Conference last season, the hosts have recorded just two victories in their opening nine games and only their goal difference keeps them off slipping to the foot of the table. With much speculation surrounding Chris Armas’ position as Head Coach at the Red Bull Arena, NY have also shown some major issues on home soil. The former MLS champions have lost two of their last three matches in front of their own supporters, including back-to-back defeats against Minnesota and Orlando. Galaxy will also be boosted by their previous trip to the Red Bull Arena. In the reverse fixture in New York last season, Saturday’s visitors secured a 3-1 win and we’re backing Schelotto’s side to enjoy another evening on the road.
