While the major European leagues may have drawn to a conclusion for another year, that doesn’t mean we’re short of footballing action from across the globe. On that note, we here at Soccer News have found a handful of helpful tips that can boost your Saturday acca:
Saturday 8th June
BST 19:30 Granada vs Alcorcon
Starting with Saturday’s hosts, while Granada may have only managed to pick up a 1-1 draw away at play-off outfit Mallorca in midweek, Diego Martínez’s men have already secured a La Liga return for next year. Landing a second-place finish in the Segunda division and now enjoying a seven-match unbeaten run, there will undoubtedly be a part atmosphere around the Estadio Nuevo Los Cármenes this weekend. Also tasting defeat just once since the end of March, a huge part of Granada’s promotion-winning campaign has been their continued defensive resolve. Conceding just 27 goals in their 41 league appearances this year, no team in Spain’s second tier holds a better defensive record than Martínez’s men. In contrast to the hosts’, bright end to the year, Alcorcon have freefallen out the top half of the table and have drastically struggled at the end of the season. Suffering a 1-0 loss away at an already relegated Gimnàstic de Tarragona in midweek, they are now enduring a five-match winless run. More worrying for the traveling fans on Saturday, Alcorcon have now not found the net in nearly 600 minutes of action.
Tip: Granada win to nil @ 13/10
19:45 Belarus vs Germany
While disappointed at both last summers World Cup finals and in their inaugural UEFA Nations League campaign had many questioning Joachim Löw’s position over the past 12 months, Germany have begun to show some signs of improvement. Turning to youth in what has been a squad overhaul, the Whites really caught the eye in their 3-2 win over a resurgent Holland in their EURO 2020 qualifying opener. Now enjoying a four-match unbeaten run, one man who is spearheading Die Mannschaft’s revival is Manchester City winger, Leroy Sane. After missing out on a spot in Russia last year, the former Schalke man found the net against Holland back in March and is seen to be a crucial part of Löw’s squad. The 23-year-old has now found the net in three of his last four appearances while away on international duty. Given Belarus’ sluggish start to qualifying, Sane should be confident of extending his goalscoring tally this weekend. Despite their impressive Nations League campaign, Saturday’s hosts have suffered back-to-back defeats in their opening Group C matchups, including a 4-0 hammering away in Amsterdam back in March.
Tip: Leroy Sane to score anytime @ 6/5
20:30 San Jose Earthquakes vs FC Dallas
Putting in another impressive display and picking up a point away at Eastern Conference title contenders DC United last weekend, San Jose find themselves enjoying quite the resurge. Looking to reclaim their spot in the play-off positions in the West, the Earthquakes have lost just one of their last eight appearances, a run that stems back to the 13th of April. One area in particular that will be most impressing Head Coach Matías Almeyda will be his sides’ performances on home soil. Putting four past Chicago Fire in their last showing at the Avaya Stadium, San Jose have won their last four matches in California, scoring a very eye-catching 13 goals on that winning run. While Saturday’s hosts might be enjoying their brightest spell of the season, the same cannot be said for a struggling FC Dallas outfit. Despite picking up a hard-fought 2-1 win over Seattle last time out, that was their only victory in their previous seven appearances and are on the verge of slipping out the top-seven. A huge part of Dallas’ issues of late has been their continued struggles outside of Texas. The visitors have lost their last three matches on the road, shipping a pair of goals in each of those defeats.
Tip: San Jose Earthquakes win @ 10/11
