8th March: Friday’s Football Accumulator – 13/1

With action from across England’s footballing tiers on Friday night, we here at Soccer News have found a handful of helpful tips to boost your weekend acca:

Friday 8th March

BST 19:45 Norwich vs Swansea

Putting three past Millwall last weekend and reclaiming their spot at the top of the Championship, the mood in Norwich’s camp couldn’t be any higher. With Friday offering them the chance to extend their buffer to five points, it has really been the Canneries form in the final third spearheading their promotion push. Now winning their last three appearances on the bounce and still holding the best-attacking record in the Championship, Daniel Farke’s side have remarkably now scored three or more goals in five of their last six outings. Now in pole position to book a Premier League return in some style, one man to watch on Friday will be leading goalscorer, Teemu Pukki. Finding the net at the Den last time out, the 28-year-old has now bagged 28 goals across all competitions, including nine in his last eight league showings. Given Swansea’s worrying record away from the Liberty, Pukki and co should be confident of continuing their scintillating form. Sat way down in 14th and drastically struggling on the road, Graham Potter’s side slumped to a 3-1 loss away at Sheffield Wednesday in their last away appearance and have now failed to win any of their last four matches away from South Wales. More worrying for the Swans, they have conceded two or more goals in their last three matches on the road. With Norwich picking up a very eye-catching 4-1 win when the two sides met back in November, we’re backing Norwich to enjoy another night’s work in East Anglia on Friday.

Tip: Home win and over 2.5 goals @ 7/5

19:45 Coventry vs Burton Albion

Continuing their impressive run in the second half of the season and picking up a 1-0 win over Accrington Stanley last week, Coventry will still have their sights set on a surprise playoff push. Now enjoying a five-match unbeaten run in League One and with whispers of back-to-back promotion around the Ricoh Arena, the mood in Mark Robins’ camp will be at a season-high. Yet to be beaten since the 26th of January, a run that has also seen them take points off runaway league leaders Luton Town, the Sky Blues have lost just one of their last six matches in the West Midlands. With only one defeat at the Ricoh in 2019 and with the chance to move within two points of the top-six, Robins’ side should be relishing the arrival of a goal shy Burton Albion on Friday night. Once again putting in a lackluster display in their 0-0 draw with Walsall last weekend, Nigel Clough has now seen his side fail to win any of their last four League One appearances and have failed to register a single goal in over 300 minutes of action. With a 2-0 win over Accrington Stanley their only victory in their last 11 attempts, we’re backing Coventry to extend their unbeaten run on Friday.

Tip: Home win @ 29/20

19:45 Tranmere vs Crewe

Starting with Tranmere, now enjoying a three-match winning run and climbing back into the playoff positions in League Two, Friday’s hosts have their sights firmly set on promotion this season. Arguably playing their best football of the season and yet to be beaten in any of their last five league appearances, Micky Mellon’s men have conceded just a single goal in nearly 500 minutes of action. One man who you should be definitely looking out for on Friday will be League Two leading goalscorer, James Norwood. Heavily linked with a potential move away from England’s fourth-tier, the Tranmere marksman has already bagged 23 league goals this season, six more than any other player. Bagging the winner against Exeter las time out, the 28-year-old has now scored seven in his last nine appearances. Norwood also has happy memories against Friday’s visitors, in the reverse fixture back in November he once again found the net. Given Alex’s struggles in the second half of the season, Norwood and Tranmere should be confident of extending their buffer in the playoff positions. Coming off the back of a pair of defeats against Exeter and fellow strugglers Northampton Town, David Artell’s side have picked up one win in their last five and have famously struggled on the road this season. With Crewe now recording just a single away victory in their last 10 attempts, a run that stems back to the middle of October, we’re backing a home victory on Friday night.

Tip: Home win @ 6/4
