Fulham and USA star Robinson ignoring Liverpool transfer rumours

Fulham and United States left-back Antonee Robinson is ignoring speculation linking him with a move to Liverpool, though he dreams of playing European football in the future.

Robinson has enjoyed a stellar campaign for Fulham, who are 10th in the Premier League table and just five points adrift of the top six.

Marco Silva’s men are also into the FA Cup quarter-finals after beating Manchester United on penalties in the last 16, and will face Crystal Palace for a place at Wembley.

Only Mohamed Salah (17) has recorded more assists than Robinson’s 10 in the Premier League this season, and he has been tipped to join the Egyptian at Anfield.

With reports suggesting Arne Slot could move on from Andy Robertson at the end of this campaign, Robinson has been linked with a potential £40million switch to the Reds.

But the USA international, who came through Everton’s youth system, played down those suggestions in an interview with ESPN.

“I’ve been in the game long enough now to know you have to block out the outside noise and things like that. I’ve been on the end of it when I’ve not been playing well,” he said.

“I saw criticism when I was younger, seeing people doubting me and things. So I know that there’s two sides to the coin. You just have to take everything with a grain of salt.

“Transfer rumours and stuff like that, I try not to look at. Especially with the Liverpool one, all my friends and family are from Liverpool, so it’s more them messaging me than me seeing newspaper stuff.

“I have to say, ‘look, it’s just a story in the paper and anyone who’s doing well is going to get linked to a team’.

“Eventually I want to perform at the highest level that I can.

“Whether that’s playing in the Champions League, playing European competitions with Fulham, however I get there, I want to make sure I get there.”

Robinson ranks third among all Premier League defenders for crosses this season (135), and second for open-play chances created (36), behind Trent Alexander-Arnold (40).

Fulham host Tottenham and travel to Arsenal in their next two Premier League games, either side of their cup quarter-final at Craven Cottage.
