While some around the Allianz last summer might gave been shocked following Vincent Kompany’s arrival, Bayern Munich are clearly enjoying life under the former Burnley boss.
Although the ex-Manchester City skipper might not have been Bayern’s number one choice to replace Thomas Tuchel in Munich, the German giants have embarked on a real romp this season.
Breezing their way to a Champions League quarter-final ticket earlier in the week and collecting a heavyweight domestic scalp, the Bavarians also appear set to recapture their Bundesliga crown without breaking much of a sweat.
With the Allianz hierarchy reportedly paying Burnley a staggering £10.2million in compensation to get their man, it seems that was a wise investment and the Belgian tactician could repay that fee with multiple pieces of silverware.
Looking to mount a real charge for the history books when they return from March’s international break, Bayern have their sights firmly set on completing what would be an iconic double-winning campaign.
Reclaiming their Bundesliga crown at a canter
Eventually forced to settle for a bronze medal finish among Germany’s elite last season as they finished a whopping 18 points adrift of runaway leaders Bayer Leverkusen, Munich found themselves at the heart of a Bundesliga nightmare.
Remarkably failing to get their hands on a single piece of silverware, Kompany arrived at the Allianz last summer knowing that he had a major job on his hands.
Although Kompany’s heavily altered squad might have suffered a shock 3-2 loss against relegation scrappers Bochum on March 8th, the German giants have enjoyed a sensational domestic romp this year.
Still holding what is a commanding eight-point buffer at the top of the Bundesliga table, Bayern are set to recapture their domestic crown at a canter and seem to have regained their fearsome reputation.
Suffering just a pair of defeats from any of their 25 Bundesliga appearances this season, Kompany’s free-scoring side have also notched a staggering 74 top-flight goals – 19 more than any other club among Germany’s top-flight.
Kompany’s Bayern Munich have scored 72 goals in the Bundesliga this season.
They have also only conceded 20 goals.

Underlining their status as a Champions League contender
While Bayern might have reached the Champions League semi-finals last season before falling to eventual winners Real Madrid, Kompany’s side opened up their European adventure back in September with nobody paying them much attention.
However, although the Bavarians might have failed to punch a top-eight finish in this season’s new Champions League format, they have certainly clicked into top gear at a crucial time and are now attracting plenty of interest.
Getting their knockout stage campaign underway with a dramatic 3-2 aggregate victory against Scottish heavyweights Celtic last month, Bayern laid down a sensational European marker earlier in the week.
Storming past bitter domestic rivals Bayer Leverkusen as they collected a remarkable 5-0 aggregate win, the former Burnley boss will be starting to believe that his squad can write themselves into the Allianz history books this season.
Breezing their way to the final eight, Bayern will be looking to collect another European scalp when they meet reigning Italian champions Inter Milan in the quarter-finals next month.

Can anyone stop Kane?
Finishing the 2023/24 campaign without a single piece of silverware to show for their troubles, that infamous trophy drought wouldn’t have hit anybody harder than their attacking talisman.
While Harry Kane might have broken a string of records after completing a blockbuster move from Tottenham in the summer of 2023, the England skipper is shockingly still waiting to get his hands on a maiden piece of silverware.
However, only continuing to underline his status as one of Europe’s most clinical marksmen, the 31-year-old has been at his devastating best this season and is spearheading Bayern’s charge for the record books.
Bagging a trio of Champions League strikes over both legs against Leverkusen in the Round of 16, Kane is cruising his way to the Bundesliga’s Golden Boot after notching 21 goals in his 23 top-flight appearances.
Averaging over a goal a game since completing his shock move to the Allianz 18 months ago, Kane is clearly relishing life as Bayern’s leading man and some have even billed the English record-breaker as a potential Ballon d’Or contender.

Tying down some of their biggest stars
While former Crystal Palace star Michael Olise might have enjoyed a remarkable rise to superstardom since arriving from Selhurst Park last summer, fans around the Allianz are highly excited to see that some of their biggest stars have committed their long-term future to the club.
Although Canadian international Alphonso Davies might have been heavily linked with a free transfer to Real Madrid, the 24-year-old ended what was becoming a real saga as he put pen to paper on a bumper new deal that will run until June 2030.
Likewise, in what was regarded as a real double coup for the German giants, it was announced only a week following Davies’ deal that playmaking sensation Jamal Musiala had also officially signed a new long-term contract at the Allianz.
Managing to fight off serious interest and keep hold of two of their key stars, Kompany has received plenty of recognition from both players and the ex-Burnley boss is clearly creating a new atmosphere behind the scenes.
