A North London Escape: Three Possible Destinations For Harry Kane This Summer

Suffering a remarkable last-gasp collapse in north London last weekend, Tottenham now face a real uphill struggle in their bid to book a much-needed Champions League finish this season.

Eventually getting hit with a stunning 3-2 loss at home against relegation scrappers Bournemouth, Spurs have come under a huge amount of scrutiny on either side of March’s international break.

Still yet to bring in a permanent replacement after sacking Antonio Conte last month, many Tottenham fans will be hugely concerned by Harry Kane’s long-term future.

With the England skipper yet to sign a new contract extension with Spurs, many have speculated that this could finally be the transfer window when Kane gets his move away from north London.

Although the 29-year-old might have become Tottenham’s all-time leading goalscorer back in February, there has been growing speculation that Kane is already eyeing an escape route from the capital.

Ahead of what looks set to be a rollercoaster summer transfer window for Spurs’ attacking icon, we have taken a look at three possible destinations for Kane ahead of the 2023/24 campaign.

Manchester United

While Manchester United might have breezed their way to a 2-0 victory away at relegation scrappers Nottingham Forest last weekend, Erik ten Hag is dealing with a mounting injury headache at Old Trafford.

With it confirmed last week that defensive star Lisandro Martinez will be out for the remainder of the campaign with a foot injury, the former Ajax boss was left hugely concerned as the red-hot Marcus Rashford faces a few weeks on the sidelines.

Although United might have shocked many across Europe during the January transfer window as Burnley-loanee Wout Weghorst arrived on a short-term deal, a new permanent number nine is at the very top of ten Hag’s wishlist this summer.

While the Premier League heavyweights might have been linked with a move for Napoli’s Victor Oshimen, the Old Trafford hierarchy have remained a long-time admirer of Kane and they are certainly weighing up what could be a record-breaking move when the window reopens.

With many around Old Trafford feeling that United are just one striking superstar away from mounting a genuine title charge, The Athletic suggested earlier in the month that Kane is ten Hag’s number-one choice this summer.

Bayern Munich

Crashing out of the Champions League on Wednesday night following a 4-1 aggregate hammering at the hands of Manchester City, Bayern Munich do have the feel of a squad seeking a real transition this summer.

Shocking many across Europe as it was announced during March’s international break that the German giants had parted ways with Julian Nagelsmann, new boss Thomas Tuchel knows that he has a potential rebuild on his hands in Munich.

While one-time Stoke misfit Eric Choupo-Moting might have done a remarkable job of leading Bayern’s attack over the past 18 months, it is no secret that the reigning Bundesliga champions are desperate to add a world-class number nine to their ranks this summer.

Although Tuchel’s new squad might have been linked with a potential blockbuster swoop for Kane last year, it appears that the England skipper still has plenty of admirers around the Allianz Arena.

The Daily Mirror reported last weekend that while Manchester United might currently sit in pole position, Bayern are still planning on what would be a club-record bid for the former World Cup Golden Boot winner.

PSG

Although it might have been suggested over recent months that Kane’s top priority is to stay put in the Premier League, the 29-year-old could be tempted by a heavyweight move to one of Europe’s very elite this summer.

With continued speculation that the likes of Kylian Mbappe and Lionel Messi could be on their way out of Paris at the end of the season, PSG are expected to once again splash their cash when the transfer window reopens.

Potentially needing to reinvest in a new superstar attacking line-up this summer, PSG have long remained linked with a potential move for Kane over the past couple of years.

Suffering a remarkable Champions League exit at the hands of Bayern Munich last month, the French heavyweights are still waiting to get their hands on a first European crown.

With PSG undoubtedly offering Kane to finally lift a first piece of silverware, The Metro reported last week that Les Parisiens have Tottenham’s homegrown talisman at the top of their list as potential targets this summer.

One of a handful of clubs who could meet Spurs’ £100million estimation, the Ligue 1 giants have proven that they’re willing to break the bank.
